An Escherichia coli Chassis for Production of Electrically Conductive Protein Nanowires [PDF]
Geobacter sulfurreducens’ pilin-based electrically conductive protein nanowires (e-PNs) are a revolutionary electronic material. They offer novel options for electronic sensing applications and have the remarkable ability to harvest electrical energy ...

The anaerobic oxidation of fatty acids and alcohols occurs near the thermodynamic limit of life. This process is driven by syntrophic bacteria that oxidize fatty acids and/or alcohols, their syntrophic partners that consume the products of this oxidation,

Hair Follicle Seedling Cryomicroneedles from Hierarchical Microfluidic Organoid on a Chip
In this paper, a hierarchical microfluidic chip is developed to produce uniform hair follicle organoids (HFOs) in cryomicroneedles. Cryopreservation agents encapsulate HFOs, preserving viability and hair growth potential. The cryomicroneedles enable simple intradermal transplantation with good skin penetration.

Molecular and Electronic Structure of the Peptide Subunit of Geobacter sulfurreducens Conductive Pili from First Principles [PDF]
The respiration of metal oxides by the bacterium Geobacter sulfurreducens requires the assembly of a small peptide (the GS pilin) into conductive filaments termed pili. We gained insights into the contribution of the GS pilin to the pilus conductivity by

An optimized single‐cell transcriptomic framework profiles over 60 000 cells to map the ovine rumen microbiome, partitioning the ecosystem into seven cross‐species functional clusters. In heat‐resistant hosts, a lineage‐specific metabolic shift in Anaerovibrio lipolyticus toward a highly glycolytic phenotype contributes to a “nutritional sparing ...

Carbon cloth stimulates direct interspecies electron transfer in syntrophic co-cultures [PDF]
This study investigated the possibility that the electrical conductivity of carbon cloth accelerates direct interspecies electron transfer (DIET) in co-cultures. Carbon cloth accelerated metabolism of DIET co-cultures (Geobacter metallireducens-Geobacter

ABSTRACT Neisseria gonorrhoeae poses an urgent public health challenge due to rapidly increasing antimicrobial resistance and the absence of an effective vaccine. Targeting conserved bacterial pathways involved in essential physiological processes may provide new opportunities for vaccine antigen discovery.

Assessing Possible Mechanisms of Micrometer-Scale Electron Transfer in Heme-Free Geobacter sulfurreducens Pili [PDF]
The electrically conductive pili of Geobacter sulfurreducens are of both fundamental and practical interest. They facilitate extracellular and interspecies electron transfer (ET) and also provide an electrical interface between living and nonliving ...
