Evolution of separate predation- and defence-evoked venoms in carnivorous cone snails

open access: yesNature Communications, 2014
Venomous animals are thought to inject the same combination of toxins for both predation and defence, presumably exploiting conserved target pharmacology across prey and predators.

Review Essay: Resilience in Russian Immigrant Stories: An Alternative to Deficiency Models

open access: yesForum: Qualitative Social Research, 2007
At first glance, "Red Blues: Voices from the Last Wave of Immigrants" is simply a collection of immigrant stories. However, SHASHA and SHRON capture immigrant experiences from a rich array of social landscapes such as "Privilege Lost," "God and Religious

MOFs and COFs in Electronics: Bridging the Gap between Intrinsic Properties and Measured Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs) hold promise for advanced electronics. However, discrepancies in reported electrical conductivities highlight the importance of measurement methodologies. This review explores intrinsic charge transport mechanisms and extrinsic factors influencing performance, and critically ...

Progressive Cone-Dystrophy, Cone-Rod Dystrophy, and Rod-Cone Dystrophies

open access: yesGüncel Retina Dergisi (Current Retina Journal), 2021
Cone-rod dystrophies are retinopathies in which cones are mainly affected and rod-cone dystrophies (retinitis pigmentosa) are retinopathies in which rods are mainly affected. The most common symptoms in cone-rod dystrophies are a progressive decrease in central vision and color vision loss.

Multicolor Optoelectronic Synapse Enabled by Photon‐Modulated Remote Doping in Solution‐Processed Van Der Waals Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Multicolor optoelectronic synapses are realized by vertically integrating solution‐processed MoS2 thin‐film and SWCNT. The electronically disconnected but interactive MoS2 enables photon‐modulated remote doping, producing a bi‐directional photoresponse.
