Importin 7 mediates the nuclear import of HIV‐1 integrase via a specific interacting interface

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
HIV‐1 integrase enables viral DNA integration into the host genome. By binding to the core domain of the host protein Importin 7 via its C‐terminal domain, the integrase is transported across the nuclear membrane into the nucleus, where integration of the viral genome into host DNA takes place. This translocation is a critical step for subsequent viral

Purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 for phase separation studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe detailed protocols for the purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 (MpARF2). This protein is fused to an MBP solubility tag and an mNG fluorescent tag and is purified from Escherichia coli. The presented procedures make it possible to study MpARF2 assemblies, which could arise from phase separation ...

TILLAGE TOOLS DRAUGHT IN SANDY LOAM SOILS, AT AL-QASSIM ARID AREA (Part II). [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Soil Sciences and Agricultural Engineering, 2002
Using cone index as indication of soil strength, empirical equations are developed in accordance with soil mechanics theory to relate soil strength or properties to tillage tools draught.

Protocol for quantifying miRNA trafficking across the endosomal membrane

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An in vitro protocol measures miRNA uptake into endosomes isolated from mammalian cell extracts, which are free of subcellular contaminants. Performed at 37 °C in the presence of ATP, it ensures the import of single‐stranded miRNA into the endosomal lumen.

An IoT-enabled penetrometer with constant-rate penetration for accurate measurement of soil cone index

open access: yesCogent Engineering
Hand-pushed cone penetrometer has been utilized to assess soil compaction based on soil penetration resistance (SPR). However, the manual operation of these devices can be quite challenging and erroneous.

Longitudinal Assessment of Biomarkers in ALS: Discriminative Biomarkers for Disease Progression and Survival

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To assess the association and discriminative performance of serum biomarkers with clinical disease progression and survival in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Methods This retrospective study, conducted at Houston Methodist Hospital, Houston, TX, used longitudinal serum samples collected between January 2018 and ...

Nonconvex retracts and computation for fixed point index in cones [PDF]

open access: yesTopological Methods in Nonlinear Analysis, 2016
In this paper we construct two retracts in a cone by nonnegative functionals of convex and concave types, and an example is given to illustrate that the retracts are nonconvex. Then the nonconvex retracts are used to compute the fixed point index for the completely continuous operator in the domains $D_1\cap D_2$ and $D_1\cup D_2$, where $D_1$ and $D_2$

A Simplified Laminar Flow Model for the Pultrusion of Glass Fiber/Polyethylene Terephthalate Commingled Yarns

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A simplified thermoplastic pultrusion model is developed to predict thermal fields in glass fiber/polyethylene terephthalate (GF/PET) composites with reduced computational cost. By combining effective material homogenization, validation against literature data, and Gaussian‐process‐based optimization, the study reveals how heating limits, pulling speed,

Modelling soil moisture – soil strength relationship of fine-grained upland forest soils

open access: yesSilva Fennica, 2019
The strength of soil is known to be dependent on water content but the relationship is strongly affected by the type of soil. Accurate moisture content – soil strength models will provide forest managers with the improved ability to reduce soil ...
