Image segmentation based on an improved CV model

open access: yes四川大学学报. 自然科学版, 2017
In order to improve CV model’s performance on image with texture, we analyze the statistical properties of image texture components, and propose an improved segmentation algorithm.

Calibrating and Visualizing Some Bootstrap Confidence Regions

open access: yesAxioms
When the bootstrap sample size is moderate, bootstrap confidence regions tend to have undercoverage. Improving the coverage is known as calibrating the confidence region. Consider testing H0:θ=θ0 versus H1:θ≠θ0.

An Efficient Construction of Confidence Regions via Swarm Intelligence and Its Application in Target Localization

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
It is essential to enhance the speed and accuracy of the localization process to gain the robustness and instantaneous properties and to adapt from the practical environment of a confidence band.

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Applicability of mitotic figure counting by deep learning: a development and pan‐cancer validation study

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed a deep learning method for mitotic figure counting in H&E‐stained whole‐slide images and evaluated its prognostic impact in 13 external validation cohorts from seven different cancer types. Patients with more mitotic figures per mm2 had significantly worse patient outcome in all the studied cancer types except colorectal ...

From Conformal Predictions to Confidence Regions

open access: yesCoRR
Conformal prediction methodologies have significantly advanced the quantification of uncertainties in predictive models. Yet, the construction of confidence regions for model parameters presents a notable challenge, often necessitating stringent assumptions regarding data distribution or merely providing asymptotic guarantees.

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

MSER Based Text Localization for Multi-language Using Double-Threshold Scheme

open access: yesEAI Endorsed Transactions on e-Learning, 2015
In this paper, a region-based text localization that is robust for multiple languages is presented. Maximally Stable Extremal Regions (MSERs) are used for detecting candidates of text areas.

Development of human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 by yeast display

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 are generated by yeast display‐guided selection. These antibodies bind to soluble and cell‐surface forms of TARM1. Also, these antibodies exhibit agonistic activity in the NFAT‐GFP reporter assay, indicating that TARM1 signaling can be functionally modulated by antibodies and suggesting TARM1 as a potential ...
