Plastic Bifurcation in the Triaxial Confining Pressure Test
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 2000Bifurcations of a circular cylinder are studied, within the context of the triaxial confining pressure test, for pressure sensitive solids. Material response is modeled by large strain versions of flow and deformation theories of plasticity in conjunction with the Drucker-Prager solid.

Deformation of Chalk Under Confining Pressure and Pore Pressure
Society of Petroleum Engineers Journal, 1981Abstract Compression tests with and without pore pressure have been run on Danian and Austin chalks. The rocks yielded under increasing hydrostatic stress by pore collapse. The same effect was produced by holding a constant hydrostatic stress and reducing the pore pressure. This pore collapse reduced the permeability.

Confining Pressure, Grain Angularity, and Liquefaction
Journal of Geotechnical Engineering, 1985Substantial decrease in resistance to liquefaction is shown to occur with increase in confining pressure for a rounded and an angular sand having identical gradation. For a given increase in confining pressure, angular sand suffers a larger loss in resistance than rounded sand.
