Characterization of a hazardous eyeliner (kohl) by confocal Raman microscopy
Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2005A new method of analyzing kohl, a cosmetic eyeliner, using confocal Raman microscopy is reported. This technique offers an important alternative to conventional spectroscopic techniques that provide elemental/atomic composition. Raman spectra of three kohl samples have been measured between 150 and 3000 cm(-1) at room temperature. The main component of

Emulated transmission in confocal Raman microscopy
Journal of the Optical Society of America B: Optical Physics, 2007We propose to use a mirror to simulate transmission configuration in a reflection confocal optical and Raman microscopy. Such a configuration allows an increased contrast of optical images of cells and increases the efficiency of Raman signal detection from cells by a factor of two.

Confocal Raman microscopy of supercritical fluid dyeing of polymers
The Analyst, 2003Supercritical CO2 was used as a medium to introduce azo-dyes into polymers (PMMA and PET). Confocal Raman microscopy has been applied using dry metallurgical and oil objectives to measure the concentration of dye as a function of distance from the surface to the core of the polymer samples.

Confocal Raman Microscopy of Optical-Trapped Particles in Liquids
Annual Review of Analytical Chemistry, 2010The in situ analysis of small, dispersed particles in liquids is a challenging problem, the successful solution to which influences diverse applications of colloidal particles in materials science, synthetic chemistry, and molecular biology. Optical trapping of small particles with a tightly focused laser beam can be combined with confocal Raman ...
