Circles, ellipses, parabolas, and hyperbolas are called conic sections because each of these curves arises as the boundary of a slice of a cone. Imagine slicing a solid cone of clay.

Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Numerical and experimental investigation of swirling flow in a conical diffuser
The decelerated swirling flow often breaks down into helical structure which is unstable and causes unsteady velocity and pressure fields. The numerical and experimental investigation of this flow pattern is carried out on the experimental apparatus ...

Electromagnetic conic sections [PDF]
Certain orthogonal coordinate systems naturally correspond to basis vectors which are both curl-free and divergence-free, and hence solve Maxwell’s equations. After first comparing several different traditional approaches to computing div, grad, and curl in curvilinear coordinates, we present a new approach, based on these “electromagnetic” basis ...

Springer theory via the Hitchin fibration [PDF]
In this paper, we translate the Springer theory of Weyl group representations into the language of symplectic topology. Given a semisimple complex group G, we describe a Lagrangian brane in the cotangent bundle of the adjoint quotient g/G that produces ...

We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

STUDY REGARDING THE GEOMETRY OF SOME PIECES USED IN FLAT-OVAL DUCTS
Nowadays people spend increasingly more time indoors, which has led to higher expectations in terms of comfort and indoor air quality. In this respect, an important role belongs to the ventilation and air conditioning systems, which transport fresh or ...
