The fine structure of the Fusarium culmorum conidium

The structure of the conidium of Fusarium culmorum has been studied by means of ultrathin sections and electron microscopy. The cell wall is at least a triple layered wall of low electron density and fibrous nature. The inner wall continues uninterrupted into the cross-walls which did not show any pores.

Conidium ontogeny in the xerophilic fungus Wallemia sebi

Abstract A simple method of slide culture is described which allowed a sequence of photomicrographs to be taken of Wallemia sebi (Fries) von Arx, showing the development of conidia on an individual fertile branch. A cylindrical structure develops above a constriction in the fertile branch.

Conidium production from leaves and needles in four streams

Oak leaves and larch and spruce needles in fine-mesh (0.3 mm) and coarse-mesh (3 mm) bags were exposed in two hard-water streams in the Swiss Jura and two soft-water streams in the Black Forest. Periodically, conidium production in samples was determined under defined conditions.
