VdGAL4 Modulates Microsclerotium Formation, Conidial Morphology, and Germination To Promote Virulence in Verticillium dahliae

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum, 2023
Verticillium dahliae Kleb is a typical soilborne pathogen that can cause vascular wilt disease on more than 400 plants. Functional analysis of genes related to the growth and virulence is crucial to revealing the molecular mechanism of the pathogenicity ...

PdStuA Is a Key Transcription Factor Controlling Sporulation, Hydrophobicity, and Stress Tolerance in Penicillium digitatum

open access: yesJournal of Fungi, 2023
Penicillium digitatum has become one of the main pathogens in citrus due to its high spore production and easy spread. In this study, the function of the APSES transcription factor StuA in P. digitatum was characterized, and the results indicated that it

The guanine nucleotide exchange factor RIC8 regulates conidial germination through Gα proteins in Neurospora crassa. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Heterotrimeric G protein signaling is essential for normal hyphal growth in the filamentous fungus Neurospora crassa. We have previously demonstrated that the non-receptor guanine nucleotide exchange factor RIC8 acts upstream of the Gα proteins GNA-1 and

The Production of Conidiophores and Conidia by Newly Germinated Conidia of Aspergillus niger (Microcycle Conidiation) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of General Microbiology, 1971
SUMMARY: The ability of Aspergillus niger conidia to produce conidiophores after germination in shaken culture at 30° was stimulated by the inclusion of glutamate in the medium. Incubation of the conidia at 35° to 41° increased swelling of the conidia and also the proportion which produced conidiophores.
