Influence of Molecular Organization on the Electrical Characteristics of {\pi}-conjugated Self-assembled Monolayers [PDF]
Two new thiol compounds with {\sigma}-{\pi}-{\sigma} structure were synthesized and self-assembled on gold substrates. The morphology and the structural characterization of SAMs assessed by infrared spectroscopy, contact angle, XPS, electrochemistry and ...

The electronic structure of conjugated systems V. The interaction of two conjugated systems [PDF]
Abstract In this paper there is discussed the interaction of two conjugated systems across a conj ugated single bond. It is shown that the conjugation energy across the bond, and the mobile order of the bond, are both positive, and that both are closely related to the self-polarizabilities of the atoms forming the bond.

In the periodic table of elements, boron (B, atomic number, 5) and nitrogen (N, atomic number, 7) are neighboring to the carbon (C, atomic number, 6). Thus, the total electronic number of two carbons (12) is equal to the electronic sum of one boron (5 ...

Chemical Conjugation in Drug Delivery Systems
Cancer is one of the diseases with the highest mortality rate. Treatments to mitigate cancer are usually so intense and invasive that they weaken the patient to cure as dangerous as the own disease. From some time ago until today, to reduce resistance generated by the constant administration of the drug and improve its pharmacokinetics, scientists have

Scaling behavior of the conserved transfer threshold process [PDF]
We analyze numerically the critical behavior of an absorbing phase transition in the conserved transfer threshold process. We determined the steady state scaling behavior of the order parameter as a function of both, the control parameter and an external

Chimeric Antisense Oligonucleotide Conjugated to α-Tocopherol
We developed an efficient system for delivering short interfering RNA (siRNA) to the liver by using α-tocopherol conjugation. The α-tocopherol–conjugated siRNA was effective and safe for RNA interference–mediated gene silencing in vivo. In contrast, when

ISG15 is a ubiquitin-like modifier that is expressed in response to type 1 interferon signaling (IFN-α/β) and plays a role in antiviral responses. The core E1, E2, and E3 enzymes for ISG15 are Ube1L, UbcH8, and Herc5, respectively, and these are all also induced at the transcriptional level by IFN-α/β.

The ATG conjugation systems in autophagy
Autophagosome formation and maturation involve the two ubiquitin-like systems: The ATG8 and ATG12 systems. ATG8 (LC3s and gamma-aminobutyric acid receptor-associated proteins in mammals) and ATG12 are covalently conjugated to phosphatidylethanolamine and ATG5, respectively.
