Gac two-component system in Pseudomonas syringae pv. tabaci is required for virulence but not for hypersensitive reaction [PDF]
Pseudomonas syringae pv. tabaci 6605 causes wildfire disease on host tobacco plants. To investigate the regulatory mechanism of the expression of virulence, Gac two-Component system-defective mutants, Delta gacA and Delta gacS, and a double mutant, Delta

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Role of HIV RNA structure in recombination and speciation: romping in purine A, keeps HTLV away
Extreme enrichment of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV-1) RNA genome for the purine A parallels the mild purine-loading of the RNAs of most organisms.

Conjugal Transfer of Genetic Material in Lactococci: A Review
Abstract The ability to mediate conjugal transfer of DNA is widespread among the lactococci. In the 9 yr since conjugation was first demonstrated in lactococci, a wide variety of phenotypes have been shown to be conjugally transferred. Recently, conjugation was used in constructing lactococcal strains with increased industrial utility.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Establishment of a highly efficient conjugation protocol for Streptomyces kanamyceticus ATCC12853
Kanamycin B as the secondary metabolite of wild‐type Streptomyces kanamyceticus (S. kanamyceticus) ATCC12853 is often used for the synthesis of dibekacin and arbekacin.

Yeasts are a group of eukaryotic microfungi with a well-defined cell wall whose growth is either entirely unicellular or a combination of hyphal and unicellular reproduction. The approximately 1500 known yeast species belong to two distinct fungal phyla,

Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...
