Dye‐Conjugated Spinach RNA by Genetic Alphabet Expansion
Chemistry – A European Journal, 2022AbstractLight‐emitting systems using an RNA aptamer‐dye pair, such as Spinach RNA, are an attractive method for imaging and tracing RNA expression in vitro and in vivo. We present an alternative Spinach method by genetic alphabet expansion using an unnatural base pair system, in which a dye‐conjugated unnatural base substrate is site‐specifically ...

Conjugation and Genetic Exchange in Enterococci
2014The medical importance of the enterococci is closely related to the propensity of these organisms to participate in the horizontal transfer of determinants for antibiotic resistance and virulence. Conjugative plasmids in enterococci tend to fall into two main groups.

On the mechanism of genetic transfer during conjugation ofEscherichia coli
Journal of Cellular Physiology, 1967It seems likely that the transfer of genetic material observed upon mating of male strains of Escherichia coli K12 is due to (or is at least concomitant with) a particular replication of the donor DNA. The detailed mechanism of genetic transfer is discussed in the light of different, recently published experimental results.

Use of genetically prepared enzyme conjugates in enzyme immunoassay
Trends in Biochemical Sciences, 1993Enzyme immunoassay, using enzymes crosslinked to either antibodies or antigens, has proved a valuable immunological tool for many years. Recently, gene fusion techniques have been used to prepare these enzyme conjugates. This method may be especially advantageous in cases where (1) the antigen is difficult and costly to obtain in large quantities or (2)

Are deception and complexity conjugate variables in genetic learning?
Proceedings of the First IEEE Conference on Evolutionary Computation. IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence, 2002This work provides an analytic starting point to the question: How deceptive is a randomly selected problem? It is shown that the bounding complexity of a large trap function is inversely proportional to the probability of a genetic algorithm encountering a fully deceptive instance, independent of problem size for gene length greater than 10/sup 4 ...

Conjugation and genetic recombination of Escherichia coli in soil
Soil Biology and Biochemistry, 1972Abstract Conjugation in Escherichia coli appears to occur in sterile soil. The recombinants produced in soil from a fertile cross do not have the complete chromosome transferred from the donor to the recipient. Soils support the growth of auxotrophic strains of E. coli, but growth and conjugation were enhanced by addition of montmorillonite.

Genetic Evidence of Protein Transfer during Bacterial Conjugation
Plasmid, 1999DNA can be transferred from eubacteria to at least plants, fungi, and all other eubacteria by related, plasmid-mediated conjugation. Little is known about the biochemistry of intraspecies or interspecies DNA transfer. Even less is known about what other molecules may accompany the DNA, or the direct or inheritable effects on recipients of these escort ...

[Genetic control of plasmid R6K conjugativity].
Genetika, 1982The regions determining conjugation ability of plasmid R6K were localized by means of deletion mutants obtained in vitro and in vivo and Tra- mutants induced by integration of transposons Tn5, Tn7 and Tn9 into different DNA sites of the conjugative deletion mutant pAS3.

IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation, 2008
Most methods in evolutionary computation are biologically inspired by chromosome crossover and mutation, two of the main sources of genetic variability in biological populations, as well as in genetic algorithms. In fact, this is a very important feature of the biological populations and their counterpart in genetic algorithms since the efficiency of ...

Use of Genetically Prepared Enzyme Conjugates in Lactose and Galactose Analyses
Analytical Biochemistry, 1994Genetically prepared enzyme conjugates were used in soluble enzyme assays for determination of lactose and galactose with spectrophotometric, fluorimetric, and bioluminometric detection. The use of a bifunctional enzyme in biosensors based on calorimetric detection is also presented.
