La lepra es una patología infecto-contagiosa ocasionada por el Mycobacterium leprae, este alcanza el ojo por medio de diseminación hematógena o propagación por lesiones adyacentes. El 21 a 24% de los pacientes con la enfermedad pueden tener compromiso de la visión, el cual es más frecuente en la lepra multibacilar y 5% padecen ceguera.
