Connecting Microstructures for Multiscale Topology Optimization With Connectivity Index Constraints [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Design, 2018
Abstract With the rapid developments of advanced manufacturing and its ability to manufacture microscale features, architected materials are receiving ever increasing attention in many physics fields. Such a design problem can be treated in topology optimization as architected material with repeated unit cells using the homogenization ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Scaling of critical connectivity of mobile ad hoc communication networks

open access: yes, 2008
In this paper, critical global connectivity of mobile ad hoc communication networks (MAHCN) is investigated. We model the two-dimensional plane on which nodes move randomly with a triangular lattice.

Large-N transitions of the connectivity index [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2015
39 pages, 4 figures; v2 a new section 8 has been added to emphasise aspects of separability in the IR effective theory and the relation with multi-gravity, references added; v3 a proper account of the IR effects of U(1) (singleton) degrees of freedom has been added with appropriate changes in sections 3, 4.3, 9, main conclusions unchanged, changes ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Topological Indices of the Pent-Heptagonal Nanosheets VC5C7 and HC5C7

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2019
In this paper, we computed the topological indices of pent-heptagonal nanosheet. Formulas for atom-bond connectivity index, fourth atom-bond connectivity index, Randić connectivity index, sum-connectivity index, first Zagreb index, second Zagreb index ...

Bridgeness: A Local Index on Edge Significance in Maintaining Global Connectivity

open access: yes, 2010
Edges in a network can be divided into two kinds according to their different roles: some enhance the locality like the ones inside a cluster while others contribute to the global connectivity like the ones connecting two clusters.

Concentration of the Kirchhoff index for Erdos-Renyi graphs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Given an undirected graph, the resistance distance between two nodes is the resistance one would measure between these two nodes in an electrical network if edges were resistors.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
