Organ‐Specific and Conserved Regulatory Logic Orchestrates Gene Expression in the Embryonic Mesothelium

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Integrated multi‐omic profiling maps the gene‐regulatory landscape of the coelomic mesothelium across heart, lung, and pancreas. A cardiac‐restricted regulatory program is uncovered in which TBX20 activates heart mesothelial (epicardial) cis‐regulatory elements, while MAF emerges as a conserved regulator of mesothelial identity.

The Bioeconomics of Conservation Agriculture and Soil Carbon Sequestration in Developing Countries [PDF]

open access: yes
Improving soil carbon through conservation agriculture in developing countries may generate some private benefits to farmers, as well as sequester carbon emissions, which is a positive externality to society.

The native bee fauna of the Palouse Prairie (Hymenoptera: Apoidea) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
While synoptic collections provide data on the range and general composition of the North American bee fauna, bee communities associated with specific habitats are largely uncharacterized.

KCNJ2 is Required for NLRP3 Inflammasome Activation That Drives Allergic Airway Inflammation and Remodeling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study aims to evaluate the impact of the potassium channel KCNJ2 on asthma development. KCNJ2 promotes NLRP3 inflammasome activation through both Ca2+ influx and K+ efflux in airway epithelial cells, which drives allergic airway inflammation and remodeling, suggesting a promising therapeutic target for asthma.

4‐Hydroxybenzyl Alcohol Mitigates Hyperlipidemia‐Associated Depression by Inhibiting Neuroinflammation via the NKIRAS2/NF‐κB Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
4‐HBA upregulates NKIRAS2 levels, inhibiting the activation of the NF‐κB pathway and subsequently reducing the levels of neuroinflammatory markers. This modulation helps restore normal mood and behavior in hyperlipidemic conditions, providing a potential therapeutic strategy for managing hyperlipidemia‐associated depression.

A Functionally Conserved Enhancer is Critical for PGC1A Expression and Thermogenesis in Brown Fat

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An evolutionarily conserved enhancer controls PGC1A expression and thermogenic activation in brown adipose tissue. Integrative multi‐omics analyses identify two BAT‐specific enhancers, with PGC1A‐En1 functioning as the dominant regulatory element that maintains thermogenic capacity across species.

Agriculture in Alaska [PDF]

open access: yes, 1958
An original version of this bulletin was first issued by the Alaska Experiment Station in 1917. Authored by C. C. Georgeson, it was revised many times to meet changing needs. A 1945 edition titled "Information for Prospective Settlers" by G.

The Transcription Factor FgSge1 Harnesses the SAGA Complex to Activate Mycotoxin Biosynthesis and Fungal Virulence

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals the molecular mechanism by which the transcription factor FgSge1 regulates mycotoxin biosynthesis and virulence in Fusarium graminearum. FgSge1 binds to the TAARGTTT cis‐element, enabling self‐activation. It recruits the SAGA complex, promotes histone acetylation, and facilitates jet‐like chromatin remodeling, thereby activating ...

Conservation agriculture compared to conventional tillage improves the trade-off between ground-dwelling arthropod trophic groups for natural pest regulation in cotton cropping systems

open access: yesGlobal Ecology and Conservation
Conservation agriculture is an innovative approach based on minimal soil disturbance, soil cover with crop residues, and crop rotation, which increases the biodiversity of soil macrofauna thus contributing to nutrient cycling and soil aggregation.

Green Technologies for a More Sustainable Agriculture [PDF]

open access: yes
For U.S. agriculture to continue along a sustainable path of economic development, further production increases must be generated by technologies that are both profitable and more environmentally benign. In this context, we assess the role of these green
