Conservation laws with discontinuous flux

open access: yesNetworks & Heterogeneous Media, 2007
We consider a hyperbolic conservation law with discontinuous flux. Such a partial differential equation arises in different applications, in particu- lar we are motivated by a model of traffic flow. We provide a new formulation in terms of Riemann Solvers. Moreover, we determine the class of Riemann Solvers which provide existence and uniqueness of the

Two types of conservation laws. Connection of physical fields with material systems. Peculiarities of field theories [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2008
Historically it happen so that in branches of physics connected with field theory and of physics of material systems (continuous media) the concept of "conservation laws" has a different meaning. In field theory "conservation laws" are those that claim the existence of conservative physical quantities or objects.

Symmetry Analysis of the Two-Dimensional Stationary Gas Dynamics Equations in Lagrangian Coordinates

open access: yesMathematics
This article analyzes the symmetry of two-dimensional stationary gas dynamics equations in Lagrangian coordinates, including the search for equivalence transformations, the group classification of equations, the derivation of group foliations, and the ...

Mathematical Modeling of Cell Growth via Inverse Problem and Computational Approach

open access: yesComputation
A simple cell population growth model is proposed, where cells are assumed to have a physiological structure (e.g., a model describing cancer cell maturation, where cells are structured by maturation stage, size, or mass). The main question is whether we
