NNMT Orchestrates Metabolic‐Epigenetic Reprogramming to Drive Macrophage‐Myofibroblast Transition in Hypertrophic Scarring

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In macrophage‐myofibroblast transition, upregulated NNMT depletes S‐Adenosylmethionine‌ (SAM) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NAD+), thereby triggering epigenetic reprogramming via Histone H3 Lysine 27 acetylation (H3K27ac) accumulation at the promoter region of master transcription factor Prrx1.

Testicular mRNA‐LNP Delivery: A Novel Therapy for Genetic Spermatogenic Disorders

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the current study, we developed a novel therapy for genetic spermatogenic disorders. It was revealed that in vivo delivery of mRNA LNP3 could restore spermatogenesis in Msh5D486Y/D486Y and Maps KO mouse models with meiotic arrest. Notably, the offspring without genomic integration was born using ICSI derived from the rescue of Msh5D486Y/D486Y mouse ...

Italian zoos and birds: May them be a ‘missing link’ to improve public interest in birds?

open access: yesAvocetta, 2022
Zoos are well-known for conservation efforts benefiting wildlife, including some European bird species such as the Bearded Vulture Gypaetus barbatus and Waldrapp Ibis Geronticus eremiticus. In Italy there has generally been a lack of scientific interest

Astrocytic PCBP1 Suppresses Ferroptosis to Restore Glutamatergic Homeostasis and Mitigate Stress‐Induced Depression in Male Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that polyC‐RNA‐binding protein 1 (PCBP1) in ventral hippocampal astrocytes modulates depressive‐like behaviors by regulating glutathione peroxidase 4‐mediated ferroptosis and synaptic glutamatergic transmission. PCBP1 overexpression intervention in the chronic unpredictable mild stress model rescues behavioral deficits ...

Some behavioral aspects of energy descent: How a biophysical psychology might help people transition through the lean times ahead

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2014
We may soon face biophysical limits to perpetual growth. Energy supplies may tighten and then begin a long slow descent while defensive expenditures rise to address problems caused by past resource consumption.

Light Therapy Alleviates Addiction‐Related Symptoms and Reshapes Habenula and Midbrain Pathways

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates light therapy for treating Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD). Functional MRI (fMRI) data reveal that light therapy enhances brain connectivity, particularly between the habenula and the medial orbitofrontal cortex (mOFC). These changes are associated with reduced withdrawal symptoms and addiction severity, highlighting the ...
