Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Mycobacterium goodii, a rapidly growing non‐tuberculous mycobacterium, rarely causes pulmonary diseases. A patient was admitted to our hospital with a fever and cough. Chest radiography revealed consolidation in the right middle lung.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Self-Serving Mayors and Local Government Consolidations in Japan [PDF]
This paper investigates local government consolidations with a focus on public choice aspects in the decision-making. Politicians could lose future payoffs if their locality merges with a larger counterpart, and they may sabotage the merger process.

Chest x-ray findings and temporal lung changes in patients with COVID-19 pneumonia
Background Chest CT scan and chest x-rays show characteristic radiographic findings in patients with COVID-19 pneumonia. Chest x-ray can be used in diagnosis and follow up in patients with COVID-19 pneumonia.

This paper introduces a new kernel for pattern classification. The consolidation kernel is designed to deal with a topological difficulty: a data set where some of the clouds of points associated with the different categories are parted in multiple clusters, possibly distant one from the other. It brings together such clusters.

The analysis of deformation in soils is of paramount importance in geotechnical engineering. For a long time the complex behaviour of natural deposits defied the ingenuity of engineers. The time has come that, with the aid of computers, numerical methods will allow the solution of every problem if the material law can be specified with a certain ...

Consolidating Masking Schemes [PDF]
In this paper we investigate relations between several masking schemes. We show that the Ishai–Sahai–Wagner private circuits construction is closely related to Threshold Implementations and the Trichina gate. The implications of this observation are manifold.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.
