ON THE TOROIDAL SURFACES OF REVOLUTION WITH CONSTANT MEAN CURVATURES

open access: yesProblems of Atomic Science and Technology, Ser. Thermonuclear Fusion, 2016
It is shown that the surface with a constant mean curvature encloses the extremal volume among all toroidal surfaces of given area. The exact solution for the corresponding variational problem is derived, and its parametric analysis is performed in the limits of high and small mean curvatures.

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Constant mean curvature surfaces and Heun's differential equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This thesis is concerned with the problem of constructing surfaces of constant mean curvature with irregular ends by using the class of Heun’s Differential Equations.

Minimal surfaces in euclidean 3-space and their mean curvature 1 cousins in hyperbolic 3-space

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, 2003
We show that the Hopf differentials of a pair of isometric cousin surfaces, a minimal surface in euclidean 3-space and a constant mean curvature (CMC) one surface in the 3-dimensional hyperbolic space, with properly embedded annular ends, extend ...

Electrochemical Evaluation of Compressed Selective Laser Melted AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg Alloys in Chloride Environment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The corrosion performance of AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg alloys produced through selective laser melting (SLM) was examined under compressive stress in a chloride environment. Electrochemical analyses, including open‐circuit potential (OCP), potentiodynamic polarization (CPP), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), were complemented by scanning ...

Constant mean curvature surfaces in hyperbolic 3-space [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The aim of this bachelor's thesis has been to investigate surfaces that are the main contributions to scattering amplitudes in a type of string theory. These are constant mean curvature surfaces in hyperbolic 3-space.

Invariant surfaces with constant mean curvature in H2 x R [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We classify the profile curves of all surfaces with constant mean curvature in the product space H2 x R, which are invariant under the action of a 1-parameter subgroup of isometries.

The Isoperimetric Problem in Carnot-Caratéodory Spaces

open access: yesBruno Pini Mathematical Analysis Seminar, 2017
We present some recent results obtained on the isoperimetric problem in a class of Carnot-Carathéodory spaces, related to the Heisenberg group. This is the framework of Pansu’s conjecture about the shape of isoperimetric sets.

A Workflow to Accelerate Microstructure‐Sensitive Fatigue Life Predictions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a workflow to accelerate predictions of microstructure‐sensitive fatigue life. Results from frameworks with varying levels of simplification are benchmarked against published reference results. The analysis reveals a trade‐off between accuracy and model complexity, offering researchers a practical guide for selecting the optimal ...

A Compact Spin‐Coated Graphene UWB Antenna for Breast Tumor Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A compact, spin‐coated graphene ultra‐wideband patch antenna designed for breast tumor detection, capable of distinguishing between malignant and benign tumors. This innovative antenna can serve as an effective initial screening tool, particularly in resource‐limited settings such as rural areas, where access to advanced medical equipment like MRI and ...
