The most important stages determining the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of a combustion process are mixture preparation, ignition, combustion itself and pollutant emissions. Among these, the ignition phe-nomenon stands out in terms of ensuring a reliable operation under every working condition (which also affects subsequent stages).

Unravelling the Secret of Sulfur Confinement and High Sulfur Utilization in Hybrid Sulfur‐Carbons
Thermal condensation of inverse vulcanized sulfur‐carbon hybrids enables a bottom‐up sulfur confinement strategy, in which a protective carbon phase is progressively constructed around sulfur species. The resulting carbon nanodomains covalently tether sulfur chains and stabilize radical intermediates. This integrated architecture effectively suppresses

Bayesian models for the determination of resonant frequencies in a DI diesel engine [PDF]
A time series method for the determination of combustion chamber resonant frequencies is outlined. This technique employs the use of Markov-chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) to infer parameters in a chosen model of the data.

This table of contents illustrates that the mechanism for mitigating Sr segregation depends strongly on the chemistry of the coating layer. HfO2 electrostatically stabilizes the surface by lowering the surface oxygen vacancies, which serve as the driving force for Sr migration. On the other hand, Al2O3 and Fe2O3 react with segregated Sr to form Sr‐Al‐O

Free Stream Behavior of Hydrogen Released from a Fluidic Oscillating Nozzle
The H2 internal combustion engine (ICE) is a key technology for complete decarbonization of the transport sector. To match or exceed the power density of conventional combustion engines, H2 direct injection (DI) is essential.

Experimental and Numerical investigation of hot-jet ignition with shock effects in a constant-volume combustor [PDF]
poster abstractA wave rotor, an array of channels arranged around the axis of a cylindrical drum, can be used as a combustor in gas turbine engines in order to reduce the consumption of the fuel by increasing the fuel efficiency.

Polymorph‐Specific Electronic Transduction in WO3 during Molecular Sensing
Metal‐oxide polymorphs with similar surface chemistry can nevertheless exhibit distinct sensing properties. In γ‐ and ε‐WO3, analyte adsorption appears comparable; yet, only ε‐WO3 induces a pronounced lattice electronic perturbation that accommodates charge in sub‐conduction band minimum states.
