Brussels–Montreal Nuclear Energy Density Functionals, from Atomic Masses to Neutron Stars
International audienceWe have recently developed a series of accurately calibrated nuclear energy density functionals, fitted to essentially all atomic masses with amodel root mean square deviation now reduced to 0.5 MeV for our functional BSk27*. At the

Dynamic of the content of radionuclides in water of cooling-pond of Chernobyl NPP (1978 - 2004) [PDF]
Dynamic of the artificial radionuclides content of in water of the cooling-pond of ChNPP was studied starting from 1978 till 2004. The total content of radionuclides was founded within the limits of 0,005 - 0,05 Bq/l in the period of 1978 - 1984. After

Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Yields of e0-electrons from the target surface by bombarding it by α-particles of different energies in the range from 0.9 to 5.5 MeV [PDF]
The yields near-zero energy electrons(e0-electrons) and fast electrons (ef-electrons) in the bombardment of targets of aluminum and titanium by α-particles of 238Pu in the low-energy α-particles region (range 0.9 - 5.5 MeV) were measured.

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

We first identified functional murine mitochondrial N‐formyl peptides (MT‐FPs) and investigated their effects on the in vitro myeloid‐derived suppressor cell (MDSC) generation from bone marrow cells. We demonstrated that MT‐FPs acted directly on bone marrow cells to promote MDSC generation and modulated the polymorphonuclear (PMN)‐MDSC/monocyte (M ...

In this study, we developed a deep learning method for mitotic figure counting in H&E‐stained whole‐slide images and evaluated its prognostic impact in 13 external validation cohorts from seven different cancer types. Patients with more mitotic figures per mm2 had significantly worse patient outcome in all the studied cancer types except colorectal ...

We discuss the role of strangeness on the internal constitution and structural properties of neutron stars. In particular, we report on recent calculations of hyperon star properties derived from microscopic equations of state for hyperonic matter. Next,

Deviation from time-composition equivalence in polymer solutions with selective cosolvents
Time-composition superpositioning (tCS) permits determination of the mechanical properties of polymeric materials over a widely extended time (or frequency) domain by systematically varying composition under isothermal conditions.

This study investigated a novel WST‐8‐based assay for evaluating d‐Amino acid oxidase (DAO) inhibitors. We confirmed its effectiveness using known inhibitors and found that uremic toxins possess relatively weak inhibitory activity compared to existing drugs.
