Constructal optimization design of hybrid microchannel heat sink with single-sided internal fin array and comparative study of genetic algorithms

open access: yesZhongguo Jianchuan Yanjiu, 2023
ObjectivesThis study seeks to improve the thermal management technology of electronic devices through constructal optimization design. MethodsFirst, the 3D flow and heat transfer numerical model of a hybrid microchannel heat sink is established, and the ...

Natural flow patterns and structured people dynamics: a constructal view [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Constructal theory that has been successfully applied to planetary circulations and climate and to river basin morphology is shown to provide a useful framework for describing flows of people. We showed here, with simple examples, that intuitive rules of

Biomimetic flow fields for proton exchange membrane fuel cells: A review of design trends [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Bipolar Plate design is one of the most active research fields in Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFCs) development. Bipolar Plates are key components for ensuring an appropriate water management within the cell, preventing flooding and ...

Crosstalk between the ribosome quality control‐associated E3 ubiquitin ligases LTN1 and RNF10

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of the E3 ligase LTN1, the ubiquitin‐like modifier UFM1, or the deubiquitinating enzyme UFSP2 disrupts endoplasmic reticulum–ribosome quality control (ER‐RQC), a pathway that removes stalled ribosomes and faulty proteins. This disruption may trigger a compensatory response to ER‐RQC defects, including increased expression of the E3 ligase RNF10 ...

Constructul design of tree-shaped conductive pathways for cooling a heat generating volume [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Heat and Mass Transfer Research, 2018
Constructal design is used to study heat removal from a square heated body with a tree shaped high thermal conductivity pathways which are embedded in the body. The objective is to minimize the defined maximum dimensionless temperature difference for the

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

Nanofluids Research: Key Issues

open access: yesNanoscale Research Letters, 2010
Nanofluids are a new class of fluids engineered by dispersing nanometer-size structures (particles, fibers, tubes, droplets) in base fluids. The very essence of nanofluids research and development is to enhance fluid macroscopic and megascale properties ...

AD-HOC principles of minimum energy expenditure as corollaries of the constructal law the cases of river basins and human vascular systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In a recent paper [1] Reis showed that both the principles of extremum of entropy production rate, which are often used in the study of complex systems, are corollaries of the Constructal Law.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Indigenous Concepts of ‘Living Systems’: Aristotelian ‘Soul’ meets Constructal Theory

open access: yesEthnobiology Letters, 2015
I examine similarities among the ways of thinking concerning the natural world of Indigenous peoples of North America and Australia and two aspects of Western Science from different historical periods.
