Statement on the risk assessment of maximum residue levels (MRLs) for oxamyl in view of consumer protection

open access: yesEFSA Journal, 2023
In accordance with Article 43 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the European Commission requested EFSA to perform a risk assessment of the existing maximum residues levels (MRLs) for oxamyl considering the new toxicological reference values.

Crossing the river stone by stone: approaches for residential risk assessment for consumers [PDF]

open access: bronzeThe Annals of Occupational Hygiene, 2001
Consumer products may contain constituents that warrant a risk analysis if they raise toxicological concern. Risk assessments are performed a priori, e.g. for pesticides and biocides, and a posteriori, to diagnose risks of contaminants. An overview is presented of residential exposure assessment and risk characterization.

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by

Gut microbiota diversity is prognostic in metastatic hormone receptor‐positive breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy and immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this exploratory study, we investigated the relationship between the gut microbiota and outcome in patients with metastatic hormone receptor‐positive breast cancer, treated in a randomized clinical trial with chemotherapy alone or chemotherapy in combination with immune checkpoint blockade.

Mercury in seafood: A preliminary risk assessment for Kuwaiti consumers

open access: yesEnvironment International, 1991
Abstract Fish is a significant source of high quality protein in Kuwait, whose population was believed to be at relatively high risk from hazards associated with the ingestion of mercury. In an effort to determine if a health hazard exists among fish consumers in Kuwait, fish consumption and mercury residues in fish from Kuwait are evaluated in this ...
