Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

A thermoelastic contact problem with a phase transition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We investigate a thermomechanical contact problem with phase transitions. The system of equations consists of a quasistatic momentum balance and a semilinear energy balance.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

The use of a non-classical friction law in finite-element analysis of contact problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
Bibliography: leaves 82-84.In this thesis a description is given of the numerical treatment of contact problems in elasticity. Frictional effects on the contact surface are modelled by using a nonlocal, nonlinear friction law.

Optimal control of a frictionless contact problem with normal compliance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
summary:We consider a mathematical model which describes a contact between an elastic body and a foundation. The contact is frictionless with normal compliance.

Feasibility and Tolerability of Performing Portable MRI for Neurological Disorders in an Outpatient Neurology Clinic: A Prospective Cohort

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Accessing brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be challenging, especially for underserved patients, which may lead to disparities in neurological diagnosis. Method This mixed‐methods study enrolled adults with one of four neurological disorders: mild cognitive impairment or dementia of the Alzheimer type, multiple sclerosis ...

An experimental method to measure gear tooth stiffness throughout and beyond the path of contact [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
A method is presented that allows the accurate measurement of the tooth pair stiffness of a pair of spur gears. The method reveals the stiffness behaviour throughout the full length of the normal path of contact and also into the extended contact region ...

Nonlinear Tolerancing: Variation Simulation and Assembly Analysis with Regard to Contact Interaction of Parts

open access: yesAxioms
The variation analysis is a key tool for ensuring the high quality assembly in the process of developing the technology for manufacturing of aircraft parts. One of the main factors in variations is the deviations in the positioning procedure.

A nonlinear boundary integral equations method for the solving of quasistatic elastic contact problem with Coulomb friction

open access: yesVestnik Samarskogo Gosudarstvennogo Tehničeskogo Universiteta. Seriâ: Fiziko-Matematičeskie Nauki, 2016
Three-dimensional quasistatic contact problem of two linearly elastic bodies’ interaction with Coulomb friction taken into account is considered. The boundary conditions of the problem have been simplified by the modification of the Coulomb’s law of ...

Contact Problems in Porous Media

open access: yesComputational Methods in Applied Mathematics
Abstract The Biot problem of poroelasticity is extended by Signorini contact conditions. The resulting Biot contact problem is formulated and analyzed as a two field variational inequality problem of a perturbed saddle point structure. We present an a priori error analysis for a general as well as for an hp-FE discretization including ...
