Influence of thermal contact on heat transfer from glowing firebrands
The influence of thermal contact between a glowing firebrand and the target fuel bed on the resultant heat transfer into the fuel bed was investigated in this study. A zero dimensional (0-D) model for the firebrand coupled to a transient two dimensional (

Study on Thermal Contact Resistance Estimation in Planar Medium [PDF]
Thermal contact resistance(TCR) is one of the important parameters in heat transfer problems of engineering, and it is necessary to estimate the value of TCR effectively in many engineering fields. Considering the limitation of current estimation methods

Powder Optimization Strategies for Binder Jetting Printing of BaTiO3 and Ba0,6Sr0,4TiO3 Ceramics
Powder optimization is investigated to enable binder jetting of BaTiO3 and Ba0.6Sr0.4TiO3 ferroelectric ceramics. The antagonistic relationship between flowability and binder compatibility is addressed through binder impregnation of granulated powders and fumed silica addition to fine powders.

Aspects of calculating the temperature for the graphite stack of the RBMK reactor
The effect of thermal contact resistance in the elements of the graphite stack of the RBMK reactor on moderator temperature is studied. It is shown that estimation of the thermal contact resistance improves the accuracy of calculation of the graphite ...

Evaluating Energy Absorption Performance of Filled Lattice Structures
Maximum stress must be considered to robustly evaluate energy absorber designs. This approach was applied to compare all types of absorbers in a single Ashby diagram and determine the utility of filling lattice voids with a second material. High‐performance fillers can improve the performance of lattices that are limited by buckling or catastrophic ...

Impact Analysis of Interface Thermal Conductivity on Pantograph-Catenary Contact Temperature Rise
[Objective] The interface temperature rise caused by PC (pantograph-catenary) contact in electric trains can accelerate the wear of pantograph strips, thereby increasing the maintenance costs of rail transit systems.

Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.
