An Architecture for Contextualized Learning Experiences

Sixth IEEE International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies (ICALT'06), 2006
The paper introduces the background and motivation for contextualized learning experiences and a short overview of recent research work on valuable mobile applications for learning. Based on a background of situated cognition and situated learning authentic learning experiences can be supported by a variety of context parameters.

Contextualizing electronic learning systems

IEEE International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies, 2004. Proceedings., 2004
Electronic learning systems (ELS) should be contents independent to simplify or enable their reuse with various contents components. Contents independence, however, implies that ELS shouldn't aim at limiting learning space complexity or size. Rather, ELS should aid learners in navigating this space.

Contextualized learning tools

Proceedings of the 2014 ACM Southeast Regional Conference, 2014
This paper explores the use of the two contextualized learning tools, animations and educational robots, in an introductory computer science course. We describe our experience when supplementing Greenfoot animation exercises with robotic exercises using the Scribbler and Finch robot, and compare the impact of the different learning tools on students ...

A contextual theory of learning and the learning organization

Knowledge and Process Management, 2005
AbstractLearning and accumulation of new knowledge in an organization always require two transformation processes: one transformation process from data to information and another from information to (new) knowledge. This is so because only information, and not knowledge, can be shared and spread among the members of the organization.

A Contextualized Annotation Model for Mobile Learning

2011 IEEE 11th International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies, 2011
Our work aims to instrument exchanges between learners during mobile learning activities. To this extent, we propose the use of digital annotations associated with physical objects involved in the learning situation. We introduce the CALM model (Contextualized Annotation for Learning through Mobility), which allows contextualizing annotations with ...

COLLEAP – COntextual Language LEArning Pipeline

2013
In this paper we present a concept as well as a prototype of a tool pipeline to utilize the abundant information available on the World Wide Web for contextual, user driven creation and display of language learning material. The approach is to capture Wikipedia articles of the user's choice by crawling, to analyze the linguistic aspects of the text via

Contextual Multilanguages: A Learning Method

1998
In this paper, we deal with a class of contextual languages defined in the frame of order-sorted algebra. We define a new way to describe contextual (multi)languages, using constraints. For this class of constraint contextual languages a learning method with motivations from natural language processing is provided.

Contextual Interference in Learning Precision Skills

Perceptual and Motor Skills, 2003
This research studied the effect of different organisations of practice (blocked and random) on the learning of three different types of throwing. 35 male students practiced three precise throws for 3 wk. Initially the subjects were separated into two groups who trained under different conditions of practice (blocked and random).
