Representation of Special Functions by Multidimensional A- and J-Fractions with Independent Variables

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
The paper deals with the problem of representing special functions by branched continued fractions, particularly multidimensional A- and J-fractions with independent variables, which are generalizations of associated continued fractions and Jacobi ...

Convergence of Vectorial Continued Fractions Related to the Spectral Seminorm

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2008
We show that the spectral seminorm is useful to study convergence or divergence of vectorial continued fractions in Banach algebras because such convergence or divergence is related to a spectral property.

Continued Fractions and Factoring

open access: yes, 2019
Legendre found that the continued fraction expansion of $\sqrt N$ having odd period leads directly to an explicit representation of $N$ as the sum of two squares. Similarly, it is shown here that the continued fraction expansion of $\sqrt N$ having even period directly produces a factor of a composite $N$.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Modular relations and explicit values of Ramanujan-Selberg continued fractions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2006
By employing a method of parameterizations for Ramanujan's theta-functions, we find several modular relations and explicit values of the Ramanujan-Selberg continued fractions.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

The Continued Fraction Structure in Physical Fractal Theory

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
The objective of this study is to reveal the intrinsic connection between fractal operators in physical fractal spaces and continued fractions. The specific contributions include: (1) reviewing fundamental concepts of continued fractions and physical ...

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.
