Combat simulation using continuous time neural networks [PDF]

open access: yesآینده‌پژوهی دفاعی, 2018
This paper focuses on modeling the behavior of commanders in a combat simulation. A military mission is often associated with multiple conflicting goals, including task success, completion time, enemies’ elimination, and own forces survival.

Continuous Time Markov Networks

open access: yesCoRR, 2012
A central task in many applications is reasoning about processes that change in a continuous time. The mathematical framework of Continuous Time Markov Processes provides the basic foundations for modeling such systems. Recently, Nodelman et al introduced continuous time Bayesian networks (CTBNs), which allow a compact representation of continuous-time

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Analysing biodiversity observation data collected in continuous time: Should we use discrete‐ or continuous‐time occupancy models?

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution
Biodiversity monitoring is undergoing a revolution, with fauna observation data being increasingly gathered continuously over extended periods, through sensors like camera traps and acoustic recorders, or via opportunistic observations.

Continuous-time modelling in econometrics and engineering - juli 2002 [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper discusses a widely used discrete-time analog of dynamic continuous-time models. This analog can not be used for the estimation of models with fast adaption to shocks. This has been overlooked in the econometric literature.

Continuous and discrete time modelling of spillovers in equity and bond markets

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper we investigate the return and volatility spillovers among equity and bond markets in the UK, USA, Germany and Japan, using continuous time models and discrete time multivariate GARCH modelling methods. Using weekly data over the period 2001

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Estimation of Continuous Time Models in Economics: an Overview [PDF]

open access: yes
The dynamics of economic behaviour is often developed in theory as a continuous time system. Rigorous estimation and testing of such systems, and the analysis of some aspects of their properties, is of particular importance in distinguishing between ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...
