Operators on Soft Inner Product Spaces

open access: yesFuzzy Information and Engineering, 2014
In the present paper, self-adjoint operator and completely continuous operator on soft inner product spaces have been introduced and some basic properties of such operators are studied.

General Spectral Flow Formula for Fixed Maximal Domain

open access: yes, 2005
We consider a continuous curve of linear elliptic formally self-adjoint differential operators of first order with smooth coefficients over a compact Riemannian manifold with boundary together with a continuous curve of global elliptic boundary value ...

On the unitary equivalence of absolutely continuous parts of self-adjoint extensions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The classical Weyl-von Neumann theorem states that for any self-adjoint operator $A$ in a separable Hilbert space $\mathfrak H$ there exists a (non-unique) Hilbert-Schmidt operator $C = C^*$ such that the perturbed operator $A+C$ has purely point ...

Neural Fields for Highly Accelerated 2D Cine Phase Contrast MRI

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT 2D cine phase contrast (CPC) MRI provides quantitative information on blood velocity and flow within the human vasculature. However, data acquisition is time‐consuming, motivating the reconstruction of the velocity field from undersampled measurements to reduce scan times. In this work, neural fields are proposed as a continuous spatiotemporal

Discrete and Continuous Adjoint-Based Aerostructural Wing Shape Optimization of a Business Jet

open access: yesFluids
This article presents single- and multi-disciplinary shape optimizations of a generic business jet wing at two transonic cruise flow conditions. The studies performed are based on two high-fidelity gradient-based optimization tools, assisted by the ...

Development of the adjoint of GEOS-Chem [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2007
We present the adjoint of the global chemical transport model GEOS-Chem, focusing on the chemical and thermodynamic relationships between sulfate – ammonium – nitrate aerosols and their gas-phase precursors.

Comparison of Direct and Adjoint k and α-Eigenfunctions

open access: yesJournal of Nuclear Engineering, 2021
Modal expansions based on k-eigenvalues and α-eigenvalues are commonly used in order to investigate the reactor behaviour, each with a distinct point of view: the former is related to fission generations, whereas the latter is related to time. Well-known

Skew-self-adjoint discrete and continuous Dirac type systems: inverse problems and Borg-Marchenko theorems

open access: yes, 2005
New formulas on the inverse problem for the continuous skew-self-adjoint Dirac type system are obtained. For the discrete skew-self-adjoint Dirac type system the solution of a general type inverse spectral problem is also derived in terms of the Weyl ...

Random Time‐Space Coding Metasurfaces for Spatial Control of the Temporal Statistics of Electromagnetic Fields

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A probabilistic framework based on random time‐space coding metasurfaces enables control of the spatial distribution of electromagnetic fields temporal statistics. By tailoring the marginal and joint distributions of random codes, electromagnetic fields with desired mean and variance patterns are realized, enabling simultaneous transmission and jamming.

Continuous Adjoint Approach for the Spalart-Allmaras Model in Aerodynamic Optimization [PDF]

open access: yesAIAA Journal, 2011
In this paper, the continuous adjoint method to compute shape sensitivities in aerodynamic design with turbulence modeling is described and developed. The focus is on compressible flows described by the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations and the classical Spalart-Allmaras model for turbulence. Turbulence modeling usually requires, in particular,
