Quantization of Polaritons Confined in Dielectric Structures

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
This study addresses the limitations of the Hopfield model of strong light‐matter coupling in the case of structured dieletrics. A method to derive quantum models in the polariton basis using Bogoliubov transformation and third quantization is introduced, demonstrating how to boost interaction strength and engineer nonlocal interactions for strongly ...

Optimal Control Method of Parabolic Partial Differential Equations and Its Application to Heat Transfer Model in Continuous Cast Secondary Cooling Zone

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematical Physics, 2015
Our work is devoted to a class of optimal control problems of parabolic partial differential equations. Because of the partial differential equations constraints, it is rather difficult to solve the optimization problem. The gradient of the cost function

On the boundary value problem for the loaded parabolic equations with irregular coefficients

open access: yesҚарағанды университетінің хабаршысы. Математика сериясы, 2018
In the paper we consider the generalized solvability of boundary value problem for the loaded parabolic equations with irregular coefficients. Theorem on unique solvability of the boundary value problem is proved.

On the singular continuous spectrum of self-adjoint extensions

open access: yesMathematische Zeitschrift, 1996
Let \(H\) be a closed symmetric operator in the Hilbert space \({\mathcal H}\) with gap \(J\) and infinite deficiency indices. Given any open subset \(J_0\) of \(J\) we shall give explicitly a selfadjoint extension \(\widetilde {H}\) of \(H\) such that up to some discrete spectrum the spectrum of \(\widetilde {H}\) within the gap \(J\) of \(H\) is ...

Reconfigurable Giant Nonreciprocity at Near‐Normal Incidence via Phase‐Change Magneto‐Optical Metagratings

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
A phase‐change magneto‐optical metagrating combines GST switching with InAs guided‐mode resonances to achieve strong nonreciprocal absorption contrast near normal incidence. A static magnetic bias creates direction‐dependent resonant splitting, while GST crystallization quenches and latches the response.

Continuous Adjoint to Proudman's Formula for Aeroacoustic Shape Optimization

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids
ABSTRACTThis paper presents an approach for aeroacoustic optimization through the reduction of acoustic sources, based on the integration of Proudman's formula into a continuous adjoint framework coupled with the Reynolds‐averaged Navier–Stokes equations, for the first‐time. The development includes the adjoint to the turbulence model.

Amenability Constants for Unconditional Sums of Banach Algebras

open access: yesMathematische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We study Johnson amenability for unconditional direct sums of Banach algebras. Given a family (Ai)i∈I$(A_i)_{i\in I}$ of Banach algebras and a Banach sequence lattice E$E$ on I$I$, the E$E$‐sum ⨁i∈IAiE${\bigl (\bigoplus _{i\in I} A_i\bigr)}_{\!E}$ carries a natural Banach algebra structure via coordinatewise multiplication.

Determination of the Equivalent Consumption in Hybrid Electric Vehicles in the State-Constrained Case

open access: yesOil & Gas Science and Technology, 2016
In the optimization of power management of hybrid electric vehicles, the equivalent consumption factor is often used. This parameter represents a way of penalizing the use of power from the batteries, taking into account the fuel consumption that such ...

On one condition of absolutely continuous spectrum for self-adjoint operators and its applications [PDF]

open access: yesOpuscula Mathematica, 2018
In this work the method of analyzing of the absolutely continuous spectrum for self-adjoint operators is considered. For the analysis it is used an approximation of a self-adjoint operator \(A\) by a sequence of operators \(A_n\) with absolutely ...

Geometry of Continuous Adjoint Newton's Method for Bivariate Quadratics

open access: yesMaple Transactions
Newton's method is a classical iterative approach for computing solutions to nonlinear equations. To overcome some of its drawbacks, one often considers a continuous adjoint form of Newton's method. This paper investigates the geometric structure of the trajectories produced by the continuous adjoint Newton's method for bivariate quadratics, a system ...
