Continuous infusion of beta-lactams
Current Opinion in Critical Care, 2007Continuous infusion of beta-lactam antibiotics is becoming increasingly popular. The background and current clinical evidence are discussed. Tools to apply continuous infusion are analyzed. One randomized controlled trial in an ICU setting and two nonrandomized controlled trials have shown continuous infusion to be more beneficial than intermittent ...

Continuous-Infusion Adriamycin
1986The use of adriamycin is frequently limited by the development of a cumulative-dose-dependent cardiomyopathy, which increases substantially in incidence at doses ≥550 mg/m2. To avoid the potential development of fatal refractory congestive heart failure (CHF), dose limitation to 450–550 mg/m2has been recommended by a variety of authors.1–3Since an ...

Neonatal Vancomycin Continuous Infusion
Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal, 2014Continuous infusions of vancomycin over 24 hours have been shown in adults to reduce drug toxicity, lower treatment costs and require fewer blood samples for therapeutic drug monitoring. They may also improve clinical outcome through earlier attainment of target drug concentrations. In neonates, there is no consensus on vancomycin dosing.

Continuous infusion of ceftazidime with an elastomeric infusion device
American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy, 1998The serum disposition, antimicrobial activity, and stability of ceftazidime continuously infused with an elastomeric infusion device (Homepump, Block Medical) were studied. Twelve healthy adult volunteers were given a 500-mg bolus dose of ceftazidime infused i.v. over two minutes, followed by a continuous i.v. infusion of 3 g over 24 hours.

[Continuous-infusion ketamine].
Minerva anestesiologica, 1981An investigation was made of the employment of ketamin as the sole anaesthetic in general surgery, using continuous infusion of a 1% solution for both induction and maintenance in 118 cases. ECG was monitored and arterial pressure was measured invasively. Central venous pressure was also determined in 10 cases. Changes in serum enzyme values during and

Ambulatory continuous intra-arterial infusion
The American Journal of Surgery, 1965Summary The ideal way to manage the patient requiring infusion is by maintaining him in an ambulatory status. This can be economically accomplished by the use of a small electrically driven pump and a combination of power sources. While the patient is in bed at night and intermittently during the day, the motor is powered by a transformer of 5.8 ...
