Continuous jet penetration of solid materials
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2003Abstract In this study it was tried to work out a theory that analytically describes the penetration of a wide range of solid materials by high velocity continuous water jet. Applying the Navier–Stokes equation to a special control volume in the water jet and using the Bingham model to describe the behaviour of the affected matter a closed-form ...

Choked-jet edge-tone experiments, Continued.
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1991Edge tones occur continuously from somewhat below choking, at pressure ratio R=1.89, to somewhat above R=4.1, for a 17.7-×3.7-mm nozzle and 8° wedge. In marked contrast to the classical edge tone, the behavior is complex with varying characteristics.

Continuously space-resolved x-ray spectroscopy at JET
Review of Scientific Instruments, 1989Application of a double-crystal Bragg device with the one crystal swiveling additionally around the x-ray optical axis between the two crystals allows continuous spatial scanning of x-ray line emission from high-temperature plasmas. The main components and physical properties of the monochromator are described, and first results of measurements of ...

Slotted Liner for Continuously Acid Jetting Stimulation
IADC/SPE Drilling Conference and Exhibition, 2012Abstract Appraisal and development of thin chalk reservoirs in the Danish Sector of the North Sea requires wells providing maximum reservoir contact and completions designs so that wells can be stimulated to maximize well productivity. Completion liners for pin-point matrix acid stimulations of long horizontal wellbore sections have been

A pilot-scale continuous-jet hydrate reactor
Chemical Engineering Journal, 2008A three-phase, pilot-scale continuous-jet hydrate reactor (CJHR) has been developed for the production of gas hydrates. The reactor receives water and a hydrate-forming species to produce the solid gas hydrate. The CJHR has been tested for the production of CO{sub 2} hydrate for the purpose of ocean carbon sequestration.

Micro machining with continuous electrolytic free jet
Precision Engineering, 2012Abstract Electrochemical machining (ECM) is a potential procedure for high precision micro manufacturing. Especially the machining of metallic work pieces without any thermal or mechanical impact and the independence from the material's hardness are significant features.

Continuous ink-jet printing using sol-gel “Ceramic” inks
Journal of Sol-Gel Science and Technology, 1997Although sol-gel processing is under intense world-wide investigation, the vast majority of interest in this technique is concerned with synthesis of engineering ceramics. Sol-gel has not been widely applied to the preparation of materials for use in conventional ceramics, such as tiles and tableware. This paper describes a novel application of aqueous

Continuous coating with gravity and jet stripping
The Physics of Fluids, 1983A thin layer of viscous fluid is transported by a vertical plane surface moving steadily upward under gravity. Some fluid drains downward, a tendency that can be augmented by blowing an air jet upon the layer from the side. An analysis is provided of the possible steady-flow solutions, leading to a relationship between the ultimate layer thickness and ...

Multinozzle drop generator for continuous ink jet printing
Electronics and Communications in Japan (Part II: Electronics), 1989AbstractUniform, stable drop generation is the key technology for continuous ink jet printing. Previously, the method to produce the standing wave driven by the high polymer piezoelectric transducer had been utilized for acoustic excitation. However, the characteristics varied from assembly to assembly and were unstable to the environmental changes. As
