Continuous time Bayesian network classifiers

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Informatics, 2012
The class of continuous time Bayesian network classifiers is defined; it solves the problem of supervised classification on multivariate trajectories evolving in continuous time. The trajectory consists of the values of discrete attributes that are measured in continuous time, while the predicted class is expected to occur in the future.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

On Gaussian covert communication in continuous time

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2019
The paper studies covert communication over a continuous-time Gaussian channel. The covertness condition requires that the channel output must statistically resemble pure noise.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Time-Continuous Hemispherical Urban Surface Temperatures

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2017
Traditional methods for remote sensing of urban surface temperatures (Tsurf) are subject to a suite of temporal and geometric biases. The effect of these biases on our ability to characterize the true geometric and temporal nature of urban Tsurf is ...

Efficient discrete-time simulations of continuous-time quantum query algorithms

open access: yes, 2008
The continuous-time query model is a variant of the discrete query model in which queries can be interleaved with known operations (called "driving operations") continuously in time.

Continuous‐time causal mediation analysis

open access: yesStatistics in Medicine, 2019
While causal mediation analysis has seen considerable recent development for a single measured mediator (M) and final outcome (Y), less attention has been given to repeatedly measured M and Y. Previous methods have typically involved discrete‐time models that limit inference to the particular measurement times used and do not recognize the continuous ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Linear Stochastic Models in Discrete and Continuous Time

open access: yesEconometrics, 2020
The econometric data to which autoregressive moving-average models are commonly applied are liable to contain elements from a limited range of frequencies. If the data do not cover the full Nyquist frequency range of [0,π] radians, then severe biases can

Time-Domain N-continuous GFDM

open access: yes, 2016
Generalized frequency division multiplexing (GFDM) has been a candidate multicarrier scheme in the 5th generation cellular networks for its flexibility of transmitter filter in time and frequency.
