Clinical Evaluation of Deep Learning and Atlas-Based Auto-Contouring for Head and Neck Radiation Therapy

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
Various commercial auto-contouring solutions have emerged over past few years to address labor-intensiveness, and inter- and intra-operator variabilities issues of traditional manual anatomy contouring for head and neck (H&N) radiation therapy (RT).

MRI reduces variation of contouring for boost clinical target volume in breast cancer patients without surgical clips in the tumour bed

open access: yesRadiology and Oncology, 2017
Omitting the placement of clips inside tumour bed during breast cancer surgery poses a challenge for delineation of lumpectomy cavity clinical target volume (CTVLC).

Implementation of web-based open-source radiotherapy delineation software (WORDS) in organs at risk contouring training for newly qualified radiotherapists: quantitative comparison with conventional one-to-one coaching approach

open access: yesBMC Medical Education, 2021
Background Due to the role expansion of radiotherapists in dosimetric aspect, radiotherapists have taken up organs at risk (OARs) contouring work in many clinical settings.

Real-world validation of Artificial Intelligence-based Computed Tomography auto-contouring for prostate cancer radiotherapy planning

open access: yesPhysics and Imaging in Radiation Oncology, 2023
Background and purpose: Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based auto-contouring for treatment planning in radiotherapy needs extensive clinical validation, including the impact of editing after automatic segmentation. The aims of this study were to assess the

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Dedifferentiated fat cells-derived exosomes (DFATs-Exos) loaded in GelMA accelerated diabetic wound healing through Wnt/β-catenin pathway

open access: yesStem Cell Research & Therapy
Background Diabetic foot ulcers pose significant challenges for clinicians worldwide. Cell-free exosome therapy holds great potential for wound healing.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Performance of Commercial Deep Learning-Based Auto-Segmentation Software for Prostate Cancer Radiation Therapy Planning: A Systematic Review

open access: yesInformation
As yet, there is no systematic review focusing on benefits and issues of commercial deep learning-based auto-segmentation (DLAS) software for prostate cancer (PCa) radiation therapy (RT) planning despite that NRG Oncology has underscored such necessity ...

Development of explanatory movies for the delineation of new organs at risk in neuro-oncology

open access: yesClinical and Translational Radiation Oncology, 2022
Ten new organs at risk (OARs) were recently introduced in the updated European Particle Therapy Network neurological contouring atlas. Despite the use of the illustrated atlas and descriptive text, interindividual contouring variations may persist.
