Adaptive contrast enhancement and de-enhancement

Pattern Recognition, 1991
Abstract Two different interpolative schemes for adaptive contrast enhancement have been presented for speeding up the contrast enhancement algorithm proposed by Beghdadi and Negrate. To reduce the enhancement of noise in relatively flat regions present in the image, an adaptive power variation technique is used in which the degree of contrast ...

Endocavitary Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound

RöFo - Fortschritte auf dem Gebiet der Röntgenstrahlen und der bildgebenden Verfahren, 2022
Background Ultrasound is one of the most important imaging methods in the daily routine. Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) has put ultrasound on equal footing with computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging in many areas. Although ultrasound contrast agents are commonly administered intravenously, endocavitary application as ...

Entropic contrast enhancement

IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, 1991
A technique for the contrast enhancement of a picture is proposed. The method is derived from the entropy concept of information theory. The originality of the algorithm rests on the use of a local contrast to define the digital entropy. The basic idea of the treatment is to enhance the contrast by transforming the global entropy.

Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound

Magnetic Resonance Imaging Clinics of North America, 2017
Contrast-enhanced ultrasound imaging is a recently approved technique in the United States that uses a specific contrast agent, namely, microbubbles, consisting mainly of a gas core and a stabilized biological shell. These compounds allow for the visualization of small vascular beds and improve characterization of anatomic structures and lesions.

Contrast enhancement for the myocardium

Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, 1991
AbstractThe potential of MR imaging and spectroscopy in ischemic heart disease is substantial. MR contrast media have the potential to improve the differential tissue characterization among normal, ischemic, and infarcted myocardium. Several reports in animals and patients have revealed that MR contrast media can improve the delineation of acute ...

Local contrast enhancement

SPIE Proceedings, 2007
We introduce a novel algorithm for local contrast enhancement. The algorithm exploits a background image which is estimated with an edge-preserving filter. The background image controls a gain which enhances important details hidden in underexposed regions of the input image.
