Accident Prevention by Control System Reconfiguration

Computers & Chemical Engineering, 2009
Abstract The control system of a process plant, as other physical systems, can break up or fail to function satisfactorily, which means that control objectives are not achieved. In order to avoid the shut downs or accidents related to the control objectives unachieved, an analysis of both the process and control system must be performed.

Three—tank Control Reconfiguration

2001
This chapter describes benchmark problem for controller reconfiguration. It is based on a laboratory process consisting of tanks with fluid flow. Many schemes for controller reconfiguration have been investigated and compared.

RECONFIGURATION OF ON-BOARD CONTROL ALGORITHMS

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1983
Abstract Methods of designing control algorithms for on-board terminal systems are considered in which algorithm reconfiguration is used to maintain an acceptable control performance under failures.

Controller reconfiguration for non-linear systems

Control Engineering Practice, 2000
This paper outlines an algorithm for controller reconfiguration for non-linear systems, based on a combination of a multiple model estimator and a generalized predictive controller. A set of models is constructed, each corresponding to a different operating condition of the system.

Reconfigurable arrays by phase-only control

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1991
A novel approach to the synthesis of arrays reconfigurable by controlling only the phase of the excitations is presented. This approach makes it possible to choose the best amplitude distribution during the synthesis, instead of choosing it a priori. The method is based on the projection approach to array synthesis.

Control design for reconfigurability

Proceedings of 1995 American Control Conference - ACC'95, 2005
This paper is concerned with the design of reconfigurable control laws for fault tolerant systems. From the control design point of view the issue of performance robustness during the system normal operation versus failure sensitivity at the time of a system component failure is addressed. To achieve a balanced design, a parametrized set of controllers

Introduction to Reconfigurable Control

2011
Fault-tolerant control (FTC) aims at making technological systems tolerant to faults. This means that the system should fulfill its function also after the appearance of degradation or failure in its components, such as actuators or sensors. Specifically, the field is concerned with systems whose function depends on functioning feedback control loops ...

VERSATILE: Very Fast Partial Reconfiguration Controller

ACM Transactions on Reconfigurable Technology and Systems
Dynamically reconfigurable architectures allow sharing of hardware resources, which is particularly beneficial for small low-end FPGAs. Based on the online modification of parts of the circuit, these architectures require partial reconfiguration of the chip.
