Finite Volume Method for a Time-Dependent Convection-Diffusion-Reaction Equation with Small Parameters

open access: yesInternational Journal of Differential Equations, 2022
Convection, diffusion, and reaction mechanisms are characteristics of transient mass-transfer phenomena that occur in natural and industrial systems. In this article, we contemplate a passive scalar transport governed by the convection-diffusion-reaction

Interior Blowup in a Convection-Diffusion Equation [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis, 1998
The author studies the behaviour of the solutions to the heat equation with a nonlinear diffusion-convection term of the form \(\text{div }u^q(\nabla)\) in a bounded domain. In addition a nonlinear Neumann condition is imposed on the boundary. The convection term is chosen in such a way that the stationary problem admits infinitely many solutions which

MHD thermosolutal marangoni convection heat and mass transport of power law fluid driven by temperature and concentration gradient

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2015
This paper studies the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) thermosolutal Marangoni convection heat and mass transfer of power-law fluids driven by a power law temperature and a power law concentration which is assumed that the surface tension varies linearly with ...

Highly Sensitive Electrochemical Biosensor Based on Hairy Particles with Controllable High Enzyme Loading and Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
For the first time, a highly sensitive electrochemical biosensor based on SiO2‐based hairy particles with a grafted PDMAEMA polymer brush containing a quantifiable and large amount of immobilized Laccase is reported. The fabricated biosensor exhibits a sensitivity of 0.14 A·m⁻¹, a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.1 µm, and a detection range of 0.3–750 µm,

Spectral Galerkin Methods for Riesz Space-Fractional Convection–Diffusion Equations

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
This paper applies the spectral Galerkin method to numerically solve Riesz space-fractional convection–diffusion equations. Firstly, spectral Galerkin algorithms were developed for one-dimensional Riesz space-fractional convection–diffusion equations ...

Cool Kitchen: Processing Starch and Eggshell Powder into Sustainable Coatings for Passive Daytime Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A food‐grade cooling composite made from starch and recycled eggshell powder offers a scalable, ultra‐low‐cost solution for passive daytime radiative cooling. Easily prepared using basic kitchen tools, this material empowers communities, even in areas with limited infrastructure, to stay cooler during worsening summer heat waves.

Membrane Wrapping for High Capacity and Rapidly Switchable Adhesives

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A membrane‐wrapping mechanism enables high‐capacity, rapidly switchable adhesion by coupling suction, friction, and adhesion. Broadband performance is achieved in dry and underwater conditions, allowing fast, reversible manipulation of objects of diverse sizes and shapes, from delicate eggs and berries to flat, complex, or heavy objects. These outcomes

Photothermal Macroporous Lignin Cryogels for Off‐Grid, Continuous Atmospheric Water Collection via Interlayer Heat Recovery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Photothermal, macroporous lignin‐based cryogels are engineered to convert sunlight into low‐grade heat. Integrated as stacked beds in a drum‐type device, a thin copper interlayer transfers waste heat between beds, enabling interlayer heat recovery and continuous solar cycling.
