Crop yields and supply of nitrogen compared in conventional and organic farming systems

open access: yesAgricultural and Food Science, 2014
The aim of organic agriculture is to produce food of high nutritional quality in sufficient quantity. Field experiments were conducted to evaluate the effect of organic and conventional growing systems on (i) total amounts and supply of N taken up or ...

Similarities and differences of pumping conventional and self-compacting concrete [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In Practice, Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC) is Considered as a Simple Extension of Conventional Vibrated Concrete (CVC) When Pumping is Concerned. the Same Equipment, Materials, Pumping Procedures and Guidelines Used for CVC Are Applied When Pumping SCC.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Increased Shelf Life and Safety of Ketchup Prepared from Organically Raised Tomato (cv. Solan Lalima)

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Microbiology, 2018
Food quality and safety are of concern to every individual. Quality can be considered as a complex characteristic of food that determines its value or acceptability to a consumer. Consumer awareness of the relationship between foods and health together

Ballistic (precessional) contribution to the conventional magnetic switching

open access: yes, 2011
We consider a magnetic moment with an easy axis anisotropy energy, switched by an external field applied along this axis. Additional small, time-independent bias field is applied perpendicular to the axis.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Conventional Contracts

open access: yesThe Review of Economic Studies, 1998
Abstract Standard game theory takes the rules of the game as given. This chapter develops a theory of how institutions, conceived of as alternative rules of the game (“contracts”), can emerge spontaneously from an accumulation of precedents.

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Diagnostic utility of metagenomic next-generation sequencing for tissue in patients with suspected infectious diseases

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology
Metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) was suggested to potentially replace traditional microbiological methods because of its comprehensiveness. However, the diagnostic utility of mNGS for tissue hasn’t been fully explored, especially for patient
