The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Experimental Study of Stress-Seepage Coupling Properties of Sandstone under Different Loading Paths

open access: yesGeofluids, 2021
The study on hydromechanical coupling properties of rocks is of great importance for rock engineering. It is closely related to the stability analysis of structures in rocks under seepage condition.

Conventional loading, is the concept still useful?

open access: yesThe Journal of The Korean Dental Association, 2013
Implant-supported restorations were connected to commercially pure titanium endosteal implants 3 months in mandible and 6 months in maxilla after the implants were inserted into patient jaws. Modifications of titanium implant surfaces have reduced the waiting time for osseointegration, resulting in the development of the early loading concept, which is

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Experimental and numerical studies on propagation behavior between hydraulic fractures and pre-existing fractures under prepulse combined hydraulic fracturing

open access: yesJournal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering
Prepulse combined hydraulic fracturing facilitates the development of fracture networks by integrating prepulse hydraulic loading with conventional hydraulic fracturing.

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

An Ultra-High Frequency Vibration-Based Fatigue Test and Its Comparative Study of a Titanium Alloy in the VHCF Regime

open access: yesMetals, 2020
This paper proposes an ultra-high frequency (UHF) fatigue test of a titanium alloy TA11 based on electrodynamic shaker in order to develop a feasible testing method in the VHCF regime.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Safe dynamic design of structures. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The Design of structures under dynamic loading is a demanding subject in safety of engineering design since conventional static failure criteria are unable to deal with structures under transient loading.

Desain Power System Stabilizer Berbasis Fuzzy Tipe-2 untuk Perbaikan Stabilitas Mesin Tunggal

open access: yesJurnal Rekayasa Elektrika, 2018
The growth of type-2 fuzzy logic system is penetrating electric power system field, especially on electric power system control sub-field in order to simplify the design of power system stabilizer (PSS). Traditionally, the function of conventional PSS is
