Differential protection of converter transformers

2016 17th International Scientific Conference on Electric Power Engineering (EPE), 2016
In this paper, development of the special converter transformer model (with 5 windings) and testing results of its differential protection is presented. The special converter transformer is mainly used for supply of rectifiers or converters, FACTS devices etc. This type of transformer can introduce non-standard fixed phase angle shifts such as 20o, 15o,

Matrix Converter-Based Active Distribution Transformer

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2016
This paper proposes a matrix converter-based active distribution transformer (MC-ADT) with enhanced control functionalities to be used in smart grids (SG). The proposed MC-ADT uses a matrix converter (MC) connected to a transformer inserted in series with the grid, and allows: 1) real-time voltage regulation of the low-voltage side of the MC-ADT, based

ZVS Resonant Converter With Series-Connected Transformers

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2011
This paper presents a new series-resonant converter with series-connected transformers in order to realize zero voltage switching (ZVS) for power switches, zero current switching (ZCS) for rectifier diodes at full load, less transformer secondary winding with a full-wave rectifier, and load current sharing. Two series-resonant converters using the same

CONVErT: A framework for complex model visualisation and transformation

2012 IEEE Symposium on Visual Languages and Human-Centric Computing (VL/HCC), 2012
Model Driven Engineering (MDE) has become a commonly used approach in software engineering. It promotes using models as primary artefacts and proposes methods for transforming them to desired software products. However, the specification of models and their transformations in MDE with current techniques is not user-friendly, due to excessive use of ...

Existence of Similarity Transformation Converting BMIs to LMIs

IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems, 2007
Under a mild condition, we investigate the existence of a similarity transformation regarding robust Hinfin stability analysis and observer-controller synthesis problems. The observer-based controller is capable of disturbance-rejection in the presence of unknown but bounded disturbance.

Analysis of DC-DC Converters Containing a Transformer

2006 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2006
This paper gives rigorous analysis of a kind of switching converters containing a transformer and shows that some graph-theoretic interpretation for them to work as DC-DC converters is possible.

Effects of DC Ground Electrode on Converter Transformers

IEEE Power Engineering Review, 1989
DC transmission systems are normally equipped with a DC ground electrode for emergency or normal operation with or without ground return. In all cases, the DC ground stabilizes the DC voltage. During operation with ground return, a DC ground potential rise occurs at the DC ground electrode and DC voltage is transferred to the station ground.

Differential Protection for Converter Transformers

12th IET International Conference on Developments in Power System Protection (DPSP 2014), 2014
This paper will present differential protection schemes used for special Converter Transformers. These transformers are typically used to feed MV drives, power electronic or FACTS devises. Converter transformers are industrial power transformers which may have phase angle shift different from standard 30o or a multiple of 30o.

New Configuration of Traction Converter With Medium-Frequency Transformer Using Matrix Converters

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2011
This paper presents a new configuration of a main traction converter with a medium-frequency transformer (MFT) using matrix converters intended for locomotives and particularly for suburban units supplied by a 25-kV/50-Hz and/or 15-kV/16.7-Hz ac electrification system.

Voltage Feedback of an LLC Resonant Converter with a Rotary Transformer

IECON 2018 - 44th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2018
Rotary assembly platforms are used in several automation applications, such as box-fill systems. In modern automatic machines, several actuators may be mounted on the rotating platform, but this architecture raises the problem of their feeding. The solution developed in this paper consists in adopting a LLC resonant converter that uses the leakage and ...
