Set Estimation Under Biconvexity Restrictions
A set in the Euclidean plane is said to be biconvex if, for some angle $\theta\in[0,\pi/2)$, all its sections along straight lines with inclination angles $\theta$ and $\theta+\pi/2$ are convex sets (i.e, empty sets or segments). Biconvexity is a natural

Driving Micro‐Objects Using Optical Force due to Fluorescence Emission From Molecules
Emission of fluorescence from a micro‐object in a specific direction is expected to generate an optical force driving the object in the opposite direction of the emission, like a rocket. To demonstrate this ‘photon‐driven micro‐rocket’, we prepared dye‐doped polymer micro‐object (PMO) one surface of which was covered with metallic film; the PMO ...

CubiX, a wire‐driven robot, extends beyond physical limitations by skillfully utilizing the environment. It connects to objects via wires deployed by drones, enabling movement, object manipulation, and task execution. By integrating with tools or robots, CubiX gains new capabilities like walking and heavy lifting, demonstrating functional exibility and

Convex Hull Pricing for Unit Commitment: Survey, Insights, and Discussions
Energy prices are usually determined by the marginal costs obtained by solving economic dispatch problems without considering commitment costs. Hence, generating units are compensated through uplift payments. However, uplift payments may undermine market

Crystal Structure Prediction of Cs–Te with Supervised Machine Learning
High‐throughput density functional theory calculations combined with machine learning models are employed to predict stable Cs– Te binary crystals. By systematically evaluating various structural descriptors and learning algorithms, the superiority of models based on atomic coordination environments is revealed.

A categorical approach to abstract convex spaces and interval spaces
In this paper, we establish the axiomatic conditions of hull operators and introduce the category of interval spaces. We also investigate their relations with convex spaces from a categorical sense.

Extension of Convex Function [PDF]
We study the local and global versions of the convexity, which is closely related to the problem of extending a convex function on a non-convex domain to a convex function on the convex hull of the domain and beyond the convex hull.

Convex Hull for Probabilistic Points
We analyze the correctness of an O(n log n) time divide-and-conquer algorithm for the convex hull problem when each input point is a location determined by a normal distribution. We show that the algorithm finds the convex hull of such probabilistic points to precision within some expected correctness determined by a user-given confidence value.
