The impact of research-based spin-offs companies as knowledge conveyers in innovation networks
The increase in the number of spin-offs has led to the growth of the research to understand the performance of these companies and to assess their impact. The literature shows that RBSO are characterized by the science-based nature of the knowledge being exploited, the close relationship with the parent organisation, and specific firms' internal ...

A programmable 2048‐element circular ultrasound array combined with a compact acoustic lens produces a thin “sound sheet” over a large field of view, and records echoes with wide angular diversity across the ring aperture. Coherence‐enhanced beamforming converts full‐matrix data into high‐contrast tomographic slices, delivering near‐diffraction‐limited

Smart Nanotechnologies for Multimodal Neuromodulation and Brain Interfacing
Recent advances in smart nanotechnologies are expanding the toolbox for brain interfacing, from wireless neuromodulation and high‐resolution sensing to targeted delivery within the central nervous system. By combining responsive nanomaterials with bioinspired design, these platforms enable multimodal interactions with neurons and glia, while also ...

Production, Consumption, Power, and Humor in the Films of Marek Piwowski [PDF]
This article discusses the way Piwowski represents work understood as production and consumption of various nondurable and even immaterial goods, such as popular music, leisure, and alcohol. My argument is that the director shuns what is regarded as the

Neuromodulator Dynamics Underlying Associative Learning in the Ventral Striatum's Olfactory Tubercle
Using fiber photometry and genetically encoded sensors, the dynamic release patterns of four neuromodulators in the olfactory tubercle (OT)—a brain region overlapping with the olfactory cortex and ventral striatum—were systematically monitored in response to external rewards and distinct reward‐associated learning processes.

Magnetomechanical neuromodulation using magnetic nanodiscs enables remote activation of neurons. In a hemiparkinsonian mouse model, alternating magnetic fields actuate the nanodiscs to generate torque that opens mechanosensitive ion channels within the subthalamic nucleus, thereby modulating basal ganglia motor circuitry.

Mountaineering – A Combinatory Approach for Identifying Lead Users and Other Rare Research Subjects [PDF]
User innovation is common in many domains, and has been found concentrated in few individuals, lead users. Particularly with regard to a given product or service development project, such rare research subjects can be difficult and resource intensive to ...
