Febrile convulsion: Knowledge and perceived causes amongst mothers in a rural community in North Western Nigeria

open access: yesSahel Medical Journal, 2011
Background: Febrile convulsion is one of the commonest presentations at most Paediatric emergency units. Adequate knowledge of relationship between fever and convulsion is needed to lessen the parental anxiety and apprehension associated with febrile ...

Association of high‐dose radioactive iodine therapy with PPM1D‐mutated clonal hematopoiesis in older individuals

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In thyroid cancer patients, high‐dose (≥7.4 GBq) radioactive iodine therapy (RAIT) was associated with a higher prevalence of clonal hematopoiesis (variant allele frequency >2%) in individuals aged ≥50 years (OR = 2.44). In silico analyses showed that truncating PPM1D mutations conferred a selective advantage under these conditions.

Practical challenges in data‐driven interpolation: Dealing with noise, enforcing stability, and computing realizations

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView., 2023
Summary In this contribution, we propose a detailed study of interpolation‐based data‐driven methods that are of relevance in the model reduction and also in the systems and control communities. The data are given by samples of the transfer function of the underlying (unknown) model, that is, we analyze frequency‐response data.

Comparative Study of Magnesium Sulfate and Phenytoin in Prevention of Convention in Pre-Eclamptic Patients

open access: yesپزشکی بالینی ابن سینا, 1999
Pre-eclampsia is one of the common complications in pregnancy and it is one of three causes of maternal mortality. The major cause of death in pre-eclampsia is adding convulsion and change to eclampsia.

Convulsive Patients Transported by a Physician-staffed Helicopter in Japan Had Better Outcomes in the Keyword-triggered Dispatch Compared to Postcontact Emergency Medical Technician-triggered Dispatch

open access: yesJournal of Emergencies, Trauma and Shock
Introduction: We retrospectively analyzed convulsive patient outcomes transported by a physician-staffed Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (doctor helicopter [DH]) using the keyword-triggered dispatch with data from the Japan DH Registry System (JDRS).

Acute toxicity of Gammalin 20 to Chrysichthys nigrodigitatus (Lacepede) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The impact of acute exposure of Gammalin 20 (an organochlorine pesticide) was investigated in a static bioassay test over a 96-(4-day) period on the fingerlings of Chrysichthys nigrodigitatus (lacepede).

Beyond digital twins: the role of foundation models in enhancing the interpretability of multiomics modalities in precision medicine

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review highlights how foundation models enhance predictive healthcare by integrating advanced digital twin modeling with multiomics and biomedical data. This approach supports disease management, risk assessment, and personalized medicine, with the goal of optimizing health outcomes through adaptive, interpretable digital simulations, accessible ...

Data‐driven performance metrics for neural network learning

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView., 2023
Summary Effectiveness of data‐driven neural learning in terms of both local mimima trapping and convergence rate is addressed. Such issues are investigated in a case study involving the training of one‐hidden‐layer feedforward neural networks with the extended Kalman filter, which reduces the search for the optimal network parameters to a state ...

Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome due to acute suppurative thyroiditis: A case report

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Critical Care
Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) and acute suppurative thyroiditis (AST) are both rare illnesses reported in children. A 14-year-old girl presented with fever, and neck swelling followed by convulsion and altered sensorium. She had low
