Analysis of a simple CONWIP system with impatient customers

2008 IEEE International Conference on Automation Science and Engineering, 2008
We study a single-stage, constant work-in-process (CONWIP) production system that produces one product to stock to cope with random demand. During stockout periods, the system incurs three types of potential customer loss: Balking, i.e., arriving customers may be unwilling to place orders and leave immediately.

CONWIP implementation in a system with cross-trained teams

International Journal of Production Research, 2019
Although a significant amount of research exists on the implementation of the CONstant Work In Process (CONWIP) production control strategy in different types of manufacturing environments, the cha...

Modified CONWIP systems: a review and classification

Production Planning & Control, 2014
Purpose: Constant work-in-process (CONWIP) system is one of the most recognised pull systems. New CONWIP systems are constantly derived in research. This study reviews and classifies these new (modified) systems. Methodology: Relevant studies are systematically screened and reviewed.

Comparing reactive Kanban and reactive CONWIP

Production Planning & Control, 2002
This paper compares a reactive Kanban system to a reactive CONWIP system under conditions of unstable changes in demand using simulation experiments. After an introduction, a model of the JIT ordering systems, the Kanban and the CONWIP systems, is constructed.

Determining inventory levels in a CONWIP controlled job shop

IIE Transactions, 2000
We extend the concept of CONWIP control to a job shop setting, in which multiple products with distinct routings compete for the same set of resources. The problem is to determine the fixed overall WIP level and its allocation to product types (WIP mix) to meet a uniformly high customer service requirement for each product type.

Hybride Kanban-Conwip-Steuerung

2016
