Thermal Energy Storage Optimization in Shopping Center Buildings [PDF]
In this research, cooling system optimization using thermal energy storage (TES) in shopping center buildings was investigated. Cooling systems in commercial buildings account for up to 50% of their total energy consumption.

ABSTRACT Subtotal hippocampal resection can leave residual hippocampal tissue, yet the immediate postoperative electrophysiologic evolution of such remnants is unknown. We describe a patient with drug‐resistant temporal lobe epilepsy in whom a hippocampal remnant was continuously monitored using a responsive neurostimulator (RNS) following subtotal ...

Electrodynamic sources of non-uniform heat production in composite superconductors causing instabilities [PDF]
Model calculations of the electrodynamic properties of superconducting composites are usually carried out assuming that the material constants, such as critical current density and resistivity, are uniform over the cross-section of the composite, or at ...

Recurrent Hypothermia and Autonomic Dysfunction Secondary to Shapiro Syndrome
ABSTRACT A 44‐year‐old man presented with recurrent hypothermia, diaphoresis and hypertension. Extensive investigation for infectious, inflammatory, metabolic and endocrine aetiologies was negative. MR scan of the brain demonstrated no lesions but revealed callosal dysgenesis, consistent with Shapiro syndrome.

Gifford-McMahon refrigerator with split cold head [PDF]
Leybold-Heraeus Co. have developed, built and successfully tested a Gifford-McMahon cryocooler with splitted cold head for cooling a cryopump. The refrigerating part of the cold head and the gas flow control device have been separated (splitted cold head)

Comparisons between heat pipe, thermoelectric system, and vapour compression refrigeration system for electronics cooling [PDF]
Passive systems such as air for electronics cooling have now effectively reached their limits. This paper evaluated three comparable systems for electronics cooling, including heat pipe (HP, passive system), thermoelectric (TE) and vapour compression ...

Effect of Film Cooling on Turbine Capacity
This paper describes a method that allows the effect of film cooling on the capacity of a turbine to be computed. The model is based on fundamental cooling performance parameters and is applicable to situations in which a mainstream flow is displaced by a partially mixed film cooling layer.

Objective We examined whether 18 months of strength training in individuals with knee varus alignment and medial tibiofemoral osteoarthritis (OA) reduced knee joint loads during walking compared to an attention control group. Methods This study was a secondary analysis of a randomized clinical trial that compared the effects of strength training to a ...
