An Extension of the Core solution Concept. [PDF]

open access: yes
A solution concept for cooperative games, the extended core, is introduced. This concept is always nonempty yet coincides with the core whenever it is nonempty. Moreover, a non-cooperative framework can generate the extended core.

A Janus‐Like Bio‐Inspired Strategy for 3D‐Printed Bimetallic Metamaterials with Excellent Thermal‐Protection and Load Bearing Capacity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A Janus‐like bio‐inspired strategy is proposed for integrally 3D‐printed bimetallic metamaterials. Inspired by shell bilayers, a heat‐resistant AlSiFeMnNiMg alloy and a SiC‐reinforced AlSi10Mg with different SiC volume fractions are arranged as an architected pair.

Non-cooperative Monomino Games

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper we study monomino games. These are two player games played on a rectangular board with R rows and C columns. The game pieces are monominoes, which cover exactly one cell of the board. One by one each player selects a column of the board, and places a monomino in the lowest uncovered cell. This generates a payoff for the player.

Water allocation strategies for the Kat Basin in South Africa : comparing negotiation tools and game theory models [PDF]

open access: yes
Governments and developing agencies promote participatory approaches in solving common pool resource problems, such as in the water sector. Two main participatory approaches have been applied separately, namely negotiation and mediation.

A solution set for fine games [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Bumb and Hoede have shown that a cooperative game can be split into two games, {\it the reward game} and {\it the fine game}, by considering the sign of quantities $c_S^v$ in the c-diagram of the game.

On the Core of Dynamic Cooperative Games

open access: yes, 2011
We consider dynamic cooperative games, where the worth of coalitions varies over time according to the history of allocations. When defining the core of a dynamic game, we allow the possibility for coalitions to deviate at any time and thereby to give ...

Molecular Bottom‐Up Design of Single‐Site Copper‐Palladium Catalysts for Selective Glycerol Electro‐Oxidation

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
A bimetallic Cu‐Pd single‐site catalyst for the selective and efficient electrooxidation of glycerol to formate and C3‐products (lactate, glycolate, glycerate) is reported. Experimental and theoretical studies shed light on the catalyst function and reveal that Pd sites facilitate the adsorption of hydroxyl (C‐OH) species which prevents C‐C bond ...

Coalitional Games with Overlapping Coalitions for Interference Management in Small Cell Networks

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper, we study the problem of cooperative interference management in an OFDMA two-tier small cell network. In particular, we propose a novel approach for allowing the small cells to cooperate, so as to optimize their sum-rate, while ...
