Positive Interactions Promote Public Cooperation [PDF]

open access: yesScience, 2009
Carrots Are Better Than Sticks The challenge of dealing with freeloaders—who benefit from a common good but refuse to pay their “fair share” of the costs—has often been met in theoretical and laboratory studies by sanctioning costly punishment, in which contributors pay a portion of their benefit so that freeloaders lose theirs.

European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline and EXPeRT Recommendations for the Diagnosis and Management of Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Neoplasms in Children and Adolescents

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pediatric gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (GEP‐NENs) are extremely rare and clinically heterogeneous. Management has largely been extrapolated from adult practice. This European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline (ESCP), developed by the EXPeRT network in collaboration with adult NEN experts, provides (adult) evidence ...

Developing an Error Map for Cognitive Navigation System

open access: yesFrontiers in Computer Science, 2021
Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) positioning is a widely used and a key intelligent transportation system (ITS) technology. An automotive navigation system is necessary when driving to an unfamiliar location.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Hybrid Cooperative Positioning in Harsh Environments [PDF]

open access: yes2015 IEEE Globecom Workshops (GC Wkshps), 2015
Hybrid cooperative positioning involves the combination of satellite pseudoranges with measurements based on terrestrial radio signals, with the aim to improve both coverage and accuracy. This paper presents a theoretical analysis of hybrid cooperative positioning in low signal-to-noise ratio environments, explicitly accounting for scenarios where ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Fast ranging method in cooperative positioning

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
Target node positioning is achieved for a wireless sensor network (WSN) with multiple sensor nodes. This issue has been a hot topic for many scholars. The use of anchor node cooperation, i.e.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Cooperative Location Method for Leader-Follower UAV Formation Based on Follower UAV’s Moving Vector

open access: yesSensors, 2022
The traditional leader-follower Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) formation cooperative positioning (CP) algorithm, based on relative ranging, requires at least four leader UAV positions to be known accurately, using relative distance with leader UAVs to ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
