Fabrication of Copper Clad Aluminum Wire (CCAW) by Indirect Extrusion and Drawing
Materials Science Forum, 2004The optimized extrusion conditions from the present research were the extrusion temperature of 573~623K and the extrusion ratio(A0/A) of 21.39. Above the extrusion temperature of 623K, the fracture of sheath material was observed. It is due to the difference of flow stress between the sheath material and the core material during extrusion process.

Characteristics of copper-clad aluminum rods prepared by horizontal continuous casting
Metals and Materials International, 2017An innovative horizontal continuous casting method was developed and successfully used to prepare copper-clad aluminum (CCA) rods with a diameter of 85 mm and a sheath thickness of 16 mm. The solidification structure and element distribution near the interface of the CCA ingots were investigated by means of a scanning electron microscope, an energy ...

Reliability study on crimping joint of copper-clad aluminum wire cable in spacecraft
2020 21st International Conference on Electronic Packaging Technology (ICEPT), 2020The space cable plays an important role in signal transmission and power distribution in spacecraft, and is an important part of connecting the subsystems and units. The number and weight of the space cables of spacecraft are increasing with the increasingly complex payload function of the spacecraft, which leads to a large increase in the cost of the ...

Extrusion of copper clad aluminum wire
Journal of Mechanical Working Technology, 1978Abstract This report describes investigation in the extrusion of copper clad aluminum wire. The variables that influence a sound clad extrusion are determined. These variables are (1) die design, (2) extrusion ratio, (3) extrusion pressure, (4) product velocity, (5) percentage copper used, and (6) ratio of flow stress of copper to aluminum.

Extrudability and Bonding Strength of Copper Clad Aluminum Alloy Composites Produced by Indirect Extrusion Process [PDF]
This paper described extrudability and bonding strength of copper (TPC) clad aluminum alloy (pure Al, Al3003, Al5005, and Al7072) composites produced by indirect extrusion at 350°C with extrusion ratio of 21.39. Conical typed die with semi angle of 30°. Carbon oil was used to reduce the friction between billet/sleeve and billet/die.

Thermomechanical Ageing of Copper-Clad Aluminum Wires Submitted to Creep Test Conditions
Advanced Materials Research, 2014Creep tests were performed on copper-clad aluminum wires at 423 K and different stresses to cover potential operating load ranges in automotive industry. The lifetime of the wires is strongly dependent on the existence of an initial heat treatment and on the applied stress. It can be correlated with the formation of the three intermetallics Al2Cu, AlCu

Study of the intermetallic growth in copper-clad aluminum wires after thermal aging
Intermetallics, 2014Abstract Study of the solid-state diffusion between copper and aluminum was carried out in the temperature range [573–673] K in order to better understand the aging mechanisms which occur in copper-clad aluminum thin wires. A complete microscopic analysis was performed to evaluate the interface composition and corresponding microstructure.
