Metal deposition of copper and lead bullets in moose harvested in Fennoscandia

open access: yesWildlife Society Bulletin, 2017
Fragments from bullets used for moose (Alces alces) hunting contaminate meat, gut piles, and offal and expose humans and scavengers to lead and copper.

Development of mineralogy-based approaches to study the loss of copper minerals into tailings of scavenger flotation circuit – Part I [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mining and Geo-Engineering
Loss of copper minerals to tailings of the rougher and scavenger circuits is one of the challenges in copper concentration plants, which reduces the efficiency of the circuit.

ISO efficiency curves of a two-phase hybrid stepping motor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Stepping motors are used in numerous applications because of their low manufacturing cost and simple speed control. It is well known that their energetic efficiency is low but actual values are typically not available.

Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Characterization of Nitinol Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion for Mechanical Metamaterial Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

Regenerative Cu/La zeolite supported desulfurizing sorbents [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
Efficient, regenerable sorbents for removal of H2S from fluid hydrocarbons such as diesel fuel at moderate condition comprise a porous, high surface area aluminosilicate support, suitably a synthetic zeolite, and most preferably a zeolite having a free ...

Reduction of Oxide Inclusions During the High‐Frequency Welding of Steel via a Nonthermal Ar/H2 Plasma Jet

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐frequency (HF) welding of steel is limited by oxide inclusions that degrade weld quality. This study demonstrates, for the first time, the integration of a nonthermal Ar/H2 dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma jet into HF welding. Local plasma treatment provides effective shielding and in‐situ oxide reduction, resulting in markedly fewer and ...

Effect of Thiazole Derivatives on Copper Corrosion in Acidic Sulphate Solution

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2015
Inhibition of copper corrosion in 0.1 mol dm-3 Na2SO4 solution (pH 3) by two thiazole derivatives of 5-(5'-methylfurfurylidene-2')-2,4-dioxotetrahydro-1,3-thiazole (MFDT) and 2-thiono-5-(4'-ethoxybenzylidene)-4-oxotetrahydro-1,3-thiazole (TEBOT) was ...
