Investigation of the dependence of pe,ped on ne,sep in JET H-Mode plasmas using integrated JETTO-MISHKA-FRANTIC simulations

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy, 2023
Experimentally, it has been observed in high-confinement (H-Mode) plasmas with Edge Localised Modes (ELMs) on JET that the pressure pedestal (pe,ped) is degraded by approximately a factor of two when there is a change in electron separatrix density, ne ...

The physics basis to integrate an MHD stable, high-power hybrid scenario to a cool divertor for steady-state reactor operation

open access: yesNuclear Fusion, 2023
Coupling a high-performance core to a low heat flux divertor is a crucial step for ITER and a Fusion Pilot Plant or DEMO. Experiments in DIII-D recently expanded the steady-state hybrid scenario to high density and divertor impurity injection to study ...

The core–edge integrated neon-seeded scenario in deuterium–tritium at JET

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
Abstract This paper reports the first experiment carried out in deuterium–tritium addressing the integration of a radiative divertor for heat-load control with good confinement. Neon seeding was carried out for the first time in a D–T plasma as part of the second D–T campaign of JET with its Be/W wall environment.

Edge Computing Technology Enablers: A Systematic Lecture Study

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
With the increasing stringent QoS constraints (e.g., latency, bandwidth, jitter) imposed by novel applications (e.g., e-Health, autonomous vehicles, smart cities, etc.), as well as the rapidly increasing number of connected IoT (Internet of Things ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Towards self-consistent integrated modeling of the tokamak pedestal, scrape-off layer, and divertor using SOLPS-ITER and EPED

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
A predictive, self-consistent integrated model of the tokamak edge plasma and neutral system has been developed and validated against experimental data from DIII-D, spanning from the divertor target and scrape-off layer to the top of the pedestal.
